.....about our lack of buying activity on the transfer front. Reading some of the postings here, there seems to be quite a number of sweaty palms and anxious minds about if and when we are making our moves.

Sir Alex and PK have already declared that they will certainly pursue their targets after the WC - with pre-season and CL qualification games approaching, do you thnik they will twiddle their thumbs and sit idly by while the days and weeks pass by?

We should only start raising our concerns if nothing is done by Aug 1.

What if nothing is done by Aug 1st, but we buy Ronaldo, Rio, and Duff on the 2nd ? Would your self imposed magic date be meaningless then ?

would you then miss the cl deadline for player registration?

Yes, If I could sign the above three players.

Of the three that you mentioned, what is probability (percentage wise) that you think they will hop onboard?

My opinion:

Ronaldo (0%)
Rio (50%)
Duff (10%)

Whats the point of discussing percentages. There's nothiong scientific about who we buy. Its all based on need, availability and price.

I couldn't care less if we bought nobody - we're a bloody good team as it is, if a little fragile.

But, I do think the chances are (the scousers on their boards are shitting themsleves about this Nike deal):

Ronaldo (60%)
Rio (80%)
Duff (0%)
Unknown (100%)

So there! :p

A big player (My bet is Scholes) will leave OT this silly season.

You mean scientific abut the probability of getting player x or y

Nothing at all. Just plain gut feel about we think is more likely to end up in our yard.

Raoul, do you get the same feeling that a big midfield player will go and will not be Verón or Keane?

I've had the feeling for a long time.

So you are happy with our defence if we don't sing reinforcements?

Gut feel based on your perception of the problem is too subjective to quatify into numbers wouldn't you say.

Singing Reinforcements ehh ?

As long as Blanc stays, then stuff it if we can get Ronaldo! :D

Can't see us making any changes unless we buy a big name player in addition to someone like Rio. Example Rio, and then Ronaldo or Ronaldinhio, or Bobby Carlos etc. In that case, I think either Scholes or Seba would be out.

So who's going to partner Blanc?

I agree, but I really feel that the midfield is way too crowded and one of them is going to go to supply some big money for other areas. Hopefully attack, but we really do need players all over the pitch.

IMO:

Butt will stay, he's the only backup we have for Keane.
Beckham will stay as he creates cash by the bucket full.
Verón will stay as SAF is too stubborn to let it pass.

So:

Giggs - IMO would bring in the most cash and is the easiest and cheapest to replace. SAF loves him too much.

Scholes - IMO the one to be sacrificed for Verón. Fantastic player but no room. :(

4 very good players into 2 just doesn't go.

Nope as Fergie and the board will fix things up this summer.

I am only puzzled by the fact that some of us here still has the opinion that nothing or very little needs to be changed.

Do you ever post in the Utd forum ?

If we don't sign anyone then so be it!

Whatever will be will be.

How do you spell that in French?

Case cerrar cerrar? ;)

Rio would be a great signing and hopefully unknown is a defender.

If Larry goes our defence is Neville, Neville, Silvestre, Brown and O'Shea. We need two more, three if Larry retires.

yo weastedevil ... is not case cerra cerraa

Seven defenders is enough. We're short of options for LB tho.

But anyway, I'd like us to play the same back four for as many games as possible. Many problems would be solved this way. And the more players you have the more likely are you to start squad rotation - and in defence that is a big problem starter IMO.

Your the only one with the sweaty palms as far as i can see.
If we sign absolutely no one would you stop supporting Utd and demand that Fergie e sacked so we could bring your type of manager in, say Keegan?

for example roughly 33% of the last 5 days transfer forum topics were started by yourself.
I hope your changing your underwear a couple of times everyday.

He just cant handle all the exitement. I cant wait for the singing defenders myself ;)

lchk is telling everyone else not to worry about lack of transfer activity!?

I've heard it all now.

<img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />

IMO we will definitely get a new defender as Fergie has already said it's the first priorty, two if Blanc leaves. If we go for one more fast and skillful attacker as many people suggested, we'd very probably need to sell. Veron is the one who can get us most money and who will have the minimum effect to us if he is sold.

Naturally no.

Perhaps you were one of those chanting "Fergie Out" during the bleak times of the late 80s

Or were you a Utd supporter then?
