Leonardo Bonucci | Retires from professional football

He would have fit Pep's ball-playing centre-back fetish but is extremely unsuitable for Pep's ridiculously high defensive line.

They'll accuse him of lacking ambition now over at Bluemoon.

It's ok - I've got this. On behalf of my fellow BM'ers, he's a fecking small-time wanker. Never wanted him anyway. Totally lacks ambition - I mean fancy signing a new contract with a team that copied their shirts from the 2nd biggest club in Nottingham. They're just a shit Notts County.

Have I covered all bases there?

Could've added "he's probably a rag anyway" and it would've been spot on, really good effort though.

Good choice. Juventus have a better chance to win the Champions League than City. They are a force to reckon with in Europe by now.

Hell regret this,

He had a chance to join one of the biggest teams in the world playing revolutionary Pepball, we just beat Barca 3-1 so technically we have injected their sould into us and he should be honoured to have an opportunity to play with Otamendi and Bravo.

Apparently had an argument with Allegri and has been dropped for the CL game against Porto

I believe he's slightly better then Smalling and Rojo. He's right below Jones

Club decision i think. He's accepted it, knows he was in the wrong

Juventus don't mind since Rugani's having a breakout season

Dreams of United and Allegri wont let him go. Poor lad, fight on Bonucci, Mou will save you in the summer

Can't see what all the fuss is about. He made a mistake, apologized and payed for it. End of the story.

It seems the rift escalated in the dressing room and Allegri was on the brink of quitting if the club had not supported his position in front of the players. The club obliged and Bonucci got the fool treatment we see in the photo above. One or both may leave in the Summer, though, this Andrea Agnelli's Juve is pretty rigid as a club and more similar to an engineering firm than an arts & entertainment agency.

How good is Bonucci? Best defender in Serie A?

He is a more composed and cultured (football wise) David Luiz but a similar hothead at the very end, he also turns 30 this year. £50m was the offer City made to Juve last Summer because Guardiola is very fond of him.

No surprise. Best libero in the world, and ideal for Pep's 3 at the back. Chelsea did also go in for him, didn't they?

So what happened... it was juve-palermo last friday, a comfortable 4-0 lead by the very end of the match... Marchisio went down because of a foul and Bonucci asked Allegri for replacing him... but there were two or three other players being considered for coming off and the rift exploded... it was the third or fourth episode this year of players undermining the manager in public (Lichtsteiner, Dybala, Khedira before) and Allegri basically went mad.

Yes sure, Conte was in contention too but Bonucci was for City if not Juve because of Pep.

Hope we're in for him if the situation with Allegri starts to escalate, and use Pogba as some sort of posturing chip. Perfect player at the perfect age for United. José was reportedly interested in signing a more experienced head to take charge of the defensive line, and they don't come much better than Bonucci - who's been in the Godín, Boateng, Thiago bracket on aggregate over the past 2-3 seasons - overtaking Barzagli as Juventus' most important defender, IMO. Still only 30, so he could play at a high level for 4-5 seasons - which gives us a good window to develop Bailly, sort out Valencia's long term replacement, and fix the leftback position for good (Shaw, Blind, or someone else). By the time he's ready to leave - Bailly will be approaching his late 20s, and the fullbacks would've been at United for ~3 seasons - so the defensive structure would be more stable.

Plus, in terms of his fit - we could do with a passing threat from the back because Bailly/Smalling are both in the stopper mold, and Bonucci's distribution from deep as a sweeper is top shelf (like Blind, but 6'3" tall and a more astute defender):

Unfortunately, Pep is a homer, and City could realistically bid £50 million+ on him (instead of keeping it close to Hummels-Bayern level - which is more par for the course), after blowing ~£200 million on centerbacks in recent years.

Think we should be after him if he becomes available.

He's better than any of the CBs we have.

Let me get this straight, because of a bust up people think he could be off?

Juventus would sell anyone when the price is good... not saying that Bonucci would leave before Allegri at this rate.

defender? He's juventus third-best defender. Not sure he makes the top 5 in Italy(Barzagli, Chiellini, Manolas are the top 3. Then there's bonucci, koulibaly, miranda, romagnoli, rugani, de vrij)

He's comfortably the best player paying CB though

and it seems he might actually go in the summer. He might want to go, and with rugani and caldara, there's actually a chance juventus might sell if the offer is big enough

A confusing post.

i mean, if we're judging only his ability to actually defend, he's 3rd best at juve and maybe not even top 5 in Italy. If we judge him as a whole, he's probably the best CB in the world

Allegri's gonna leave so i don't think bonucci will. Still, there's now a chance of juventus accepting a £50M bid for him

What a fallout! Gazzetta reporting Bonucci out of squad after quarrel with Allegri last Friday.
If confirmed, totally out of blue
