Take that you Aussies :D

Leeds: 11 (8)
Tries: Donald
Goals: Sinfield 3
Drops: Sinfield

Melbourne: 4 (4)
Tries: Hoffman

Leeds Rhinos ensured the World Club Challenge trophy stayed in England for a fifth successive year with a tense victory over Melbourne Storm.

The Super League champions overcame wild and windy conditions, with Kevin Sinfield's kicking proving vital.

A Ryan Hoffman try put the Storm ahead before Scott Donald crossed to restore Leeds' advantage just before half-time.

And as conditions deteriorated, Sinfield's second penalty and drop goal were the only scores after the break.

The Rhinos' victory - their second in the fixture after beating Canterbury in 2005 - was marred by injuries to Danny McGuire, Clinton Toopi and Keith Senior.

But for the moment they will celebrate a monumental triumph, albeit over a Storm side which has been largely inactive since winning their Grand Final against Manly in September.

The visitors looked the more composed early on, however, and a flowing move ended with skipper Cooper Cronk playing in Hoffman to jink over.

In appalling conditions, the game developed into an attritional battle in which Leeds were struggling to break down the formidable Melbourne defence.

However, Webb skipped across 20 metres out before slipping the ball through to Donald, who motored over for a crucial score.

In the second half, the Australian outfit tried desperately for find a chink in the Leeds rearguard, notably through Cronk, Billy Slater and Will Chambers.

But they could find no way through and their frustration resulted in lapses in discipline which Sinfield punished despite complaining about a laser beam being shone into his eyes.

Melbourne were turd, and Leeds played superb with a forward covering three vital positions. Leeds deserve it, and I hated every second of my first trip to Bellend Road. Grrr. Glad I didn't pay.

I also got caught filling my face with a chicken balti pie when Melbourne scored.

We've all had your mother
She was fecking shite
na na na na na na na
We are so proud
To shout it out loud
we hate you Leeds, Leeds, Leeds!

I had the misfortune of watching

What a bunch of fannies, a disgrace to the sport of rugby

Hopefully our ground is being decomtaminated after your visit. ;)

I've just enjoyed the highlights of the Saints v Bulls game...some hit by Sam Burgess on one of your wimps. ;)

5th successive year  is the superleague considered to be stronger than the aussie league now?

 no mate

This game is always played in England for a start. Another fact to look at this that Leeds are like 5 games into their season, while the Storm are in their preseason.

NRL > Super League

it is a joke of a match now that the aussies don't take serious, it is always played in england and not rotated and played at the start of season and weeks before the aussie season starts so our fitness levels are better.
I am proud Widnes won it when it mean't more but the match needs to be rotated between England and australia again before it will mean anything.

Again?

As far as I recall, it was only once in the 80's when Wigan handed Brisbane their Iestyn it was played down under.

I agree the format needs looking at, but how do you change with without taking focus of the playoffs and Grand Finals, and then messing around with the international set up?

And ask Darren Lockyer about the Aussies not taking it seriously. Brisbane seemed to last year, and Melbourne sure as hell looked as though they were the other night. Had Inglis and Smith played, it would likely have been a different game.
