Walking in a whisky wonderland.
I came across a little item about a young player who refused to train with the reserves, because he's "now first team". The player wasn't named but he was given a dressing down by Fergie, Phelan, et al.

It struck me that John O'Shea hasn't had a start for a few weeks. And he didn't even appear on the bench for a while. Now I know that Rio has just come back from injury but he should have had to earn his place just like everyone else. Could it be that John was the arrogant prat who refused to train with the reserves?

This seems very unlike John because in his interviews he strikes me as someone who always has his feet on the ground. I would have thought Richardson was a more likely candidate for Fergie's wrath...

Still, you never know. Could anyone shed any light?

Richardson has still been in the FA Youth Cup side, doubtful its him. If true it would have to be O'Shea really as the only other one, Chadwick, plays in the reserves all the time.

1+1 make three as usual?

O'Shea was subbed against Sunderland because of an injury and missed the Portsmouth match. Since then he was on the bench three times in three matches, though only coming on at West Brom.

So - No!

Ruddy, Richardson has even played in the U19's pretty recently, and is a reserves regular.

he was a cocky cnut even before rio came here and now even more so

I'd heard the player in question was Bojan Djordjic. There was a thread about it on the Redissue Message Board.

Now that wouldn't surprise me, few players have a bigger ego than him. When's this supposed to have happened though, since he's been on loan all season?

Someone wrote on that RI thread that Djordjic didn't want to travel to one of the CL away games because he didn't see the point of being on the bench as he didn't think he was going to be brought on! Don't know which match though or whether he did actually travel.

In the Red Issue, they said the said player was so late for a reserve fixture that the line-up had to be changed minutes before ko, one of the reasons for the bollocking from the coaching staff. Oh yeah, and apparently he has his name stiched in his boots!

Its definitely been this season, so I don't think its Djordjic. I'll have to check, but I think I bought that particular Red Issue before the Birmingham City game. A few weeks ago.
