going from a few seasons where we seemed to have no leaders, it’s amazing what a new manger can do in identifying proper character in new players and coach the existing squad to emerge from their cocoons.

now for potential captains we have Martinez, Shaw, Casemiro, Varane, Bruno.

Character.

Yeah, occurred to me yesterday as well. It feels like eons since we've seen real leadership on the pitch. I guess it comes from the top. It makes some difference.

Think Casemiro or Varane should be permanent captain next season. Those 2 are elite players who have won multiple trophies. They deserve the chance to lead our team to success and in CL nights. Are they the only 2 players we have in this current team that’s won the CL?

Keane got it right when he said Maguire was never captain material and not a leader

Regardless of how Maguire played he just was not the kind of guy you looked at to inspire a team and fire them up when they need it.

The difference now is like light and day. Bruno is more vocal and Ten Hag has been amazing in bringing in players who can fill that leadership role and bring the other players together

Casemiro obviously but even Martinez and Antony have that fighting quality that too many of our players lacked.

When you see every player in the team constantly geeing up their team mates at every point whether it's for a challenge or clearance you know we have finally got that togetherness we have been leaving for so long

Bruno and rashford have been this in the past. But we have them at the back now as he is getting the best from varane and casemiro is a ready made leader.

That and shifting Ronaldo and we look like we have much more drive on the pitch.

Hope we can add a few more

Shaw is a brilliant player - honestly I think if he ever got played in DM or CM, we'd start wondering if he should play there for the rest of his career. However, I don't think he's a leader at all.

I disagree, listen to how he talks to the media

Bruno is a pleasant surprise when he talks tbh. He seems to show proper leadership qualities to me, which, without having a dig at him is a surprise when looking at his occasional on-field antics and brainless moments.

Lot's of our players can speak to the media rather impressively, doesn't really translate to leadership on the pitch.

When they were downing tools (debatable, I know), or just plainly lacking hunger to compete, these boys were still giving stellar interviews.

There are some many different views as to what is a leader. From a traits view, some might say Shaw is too short. Given how he reacts to different situations and position on the pitch, Casemiro for me.

Seems like the team is packed with character. Shows what confidence can do. Of course all down to the Incredible Ten Hag

Even Dalot. This season he's become so vocal, to the point he celebrates everything, including giving away corners

A team of players all with the captain mindset is pretty formidable. Every player should try to be play to the best of their ability like a captain and they should encourage their teammates to do better like a captain. Hopefully it filters through to the likes of Garnacho, who will absorb that leadership the likes of Bruno, Casemiro and Varane bring.
