I shall be heading down to the Le Mans Thursday morning for my annual trip, camping on the inside of the track by Porsche Curves (where else?) behind Beausejour.

Can't see it being a classic this year. Now Peugeot have pulled out, LMP1 is looking a bit thin, although LMP2 seems to have expanded, looks like another Audi stroll. Roll on next year when Porsche are hopefully coming back into LMP1 (or will it be 2014?).

Meanwhile, a little something to get you in the mood:

Well I haven't been since 1998...it's a cracking weekend though. Wish I could go again.

You should go the swimming pool in the town...it's usually dripping with fit French birds. I expect you'll mostly be walking round the pits though! Will they have jumbotrons up for the footy?

Toyota are right there which is interesting given its only qualifying. They have pace, lets hope they can match Audi during the race. LMP1 needs it!

Can't believe the Ferrari team pushing it so close. ran out of fuel through the porsche curves.

yup...not good. lucky to be so close to pit lane. early on its the #74 vette and the aston martin that are the class of gt pro. evidently the a-m was given several rules concessions. wonder what that's all about. :/

Ant Davidson has had a big shunt at around 170MPH but apparently he is ok, was taken to the medical centre.

Holy shit, glad everyone is alright. Must feel horrible in that split second of realisation that the guy doesn't know your there and he turns in on you.

could be wrong but i thought i heard earlier that the Ferrari driver blamed the Toyota driver.

vettes running 1st (#74) and 4th (#73) currently.

geesh! went to dinner and came back to find the dominate #74 out of the race due to damage from some incident. it's up the #73 to bring it home...

#73 moves up to 2nd and then goes out with some mechanical problem and loses several laps. that does it for Corvette Racing's chances this year.

Audi hybrids are monsters. First through fourth. Well done.P.S.: Speed Channel's coverage is dire for those watching in the U.S. More inane interviews and crap than seeing the actual race. I despair.

Davidson broke his back btw.

Boring as batshit race in terms of overall result . Audi can bang on as much as they want about letting their drivers race, but it doesn't change the fact they had virtually no competition at all. It would be seen as a massive failure if they had lost and I dare say atleast one of the non hybrid Audi's would have beat both Toyota's had they been going through the whole race.

Hopefully next year Toyota can be right there to take it to Audi otherwise it'll be another cake walk.

Yup, our campsite had 2 big screens. Great time watching England with 400 lads all cheering us on & I also saw Portugal over the weekend. We had the race live on Eurosport so we could keep up with the progress at all times. Hot showers (apart from on Friday morning because they had a problem) clean toilets, draft beer & decent (if a bit expensive) food.

Just saw the pics from the IoW festival on the news & when I think of the wind & rain we had over the weekend, I was snug as a bug in my tent, not a drop of water inside & never moved an inch and this is a 7 year old £25 Halfords job, great campsite.

fwiw the England game was generally described as 2 wonder goals from Walcott & Welbeck & that lump Carroll got one too...
