Well the annual pilgrimage will shortly begin for me and 1/4 million Brits, Germans, Danes, French and assorted other nations from around the world to join in the orgy of motor racing, drinking and urinating in public that is Les 24 Heures Du Mans.

This will be my 7th year and its my turn to drive this time.

I'll be washing, polishing and vacuuming my car over the next few days and getting the car all stickered up in the traditional manner, I'll post a pic on Wednesday when the car is ready.

I'll be cheering for Porsche (of course) in the new class of LM GTE and Peugeot for the outright win. Audi seem to own the race in terms of sponsorship, course cars etc so it would be good to see a French team win the race at last.

Entry list here:

If you scroll down, I'll be camping on the inside of Virage Porsche, by the spectators hillock, near that little knife & fork symbol.

As I said this is my 7th visit, so if anyone is going for the first time or needs any info about the best places to watch the race or getting around I'll try to assist.

Forget your Monaco, or British Grand Prix, this is bigger!

I know its not the same but I plan to go to the 6 hours of Silverstone in September.

All stickered up & ready for the off.

Looks a bit naf but a lot of people do it and despite what it looks like its pretty restrained compared to some cars you see...

I know my first efforts with 'FotoFlexer' are pretty awful...:(

Looks good colin. If you ever get the chance, come to Australia and watch Targa Tasmania. Porsche paradise.

I reckon Kristensen or Davidson for LMP1. Davidson and co won the Spa 1000km recently although Audi have a brand new car. Alan Prosts son is also driving in the race.

I hope Ordonez and co in the signatech Nissan for LMP2. Would be fantastic to see a driver come from a racing car game to win his class at Le Mans. You can't really say he doesn't deserve it either given he put the thing on pole!

I hope Fisico wins LM GTE pro but he is driving a Ferrari.... I'd put my money on Priaulx and Muller in the second BMW.

fecked if I know for LM GTE Am

Huge accident for McNish

Frankly I can't believe nobody has died in that one, the spectators were just exposed.

wow! if i was one of those spectators i probably would have crapped myself

Why go for that so early? If he just waited for the long straight that follows the "stadium" sector he would've had the Ferrari easily.

Glad no one was injured, pretty much a miracle.

The commentary for this on eurosport is absolutely pathetic. The bias towards Audi is incredible. Taking away the massive amount of Audi advertising during commercials, you'd be mistaken to think that the commentators would be able to show no bias. One of the commentators has been sniping at Peugot at any possible moment, effectively calling them and the race organizers cheats for favoring a french team, lambasting Peugot for daring to use their 2 cars a few laps down to slow down the leader 'Audi have a rich history of doing this', only interviewing Audi drivers, and the silly bitch in commentary just said that she hopes Audi wins. A few minutes before she said that the Ferrari driver involved in the McNish incident "should have used his brain"..... The only person at fault in that incident was McNish.

CORVETTE RACING wins gt pro class. fantastic performance. the 74 car dominated until an unfortunate accident but the 73 took over. this is the 100th anniversay of chevrolet and the 10 anniversary of their first win at Le Mans. the only thing what would have made it better would have been to take the first two spots. btw...another corvette, not a factory team, won the gte am class. great day!

btw...cool car colin!

Thats one mad race. I watched the build-up & the start on Sat & caught the last 2 hrs or so yesterday. Mental driving for 24 hrs straight, your legs must be fecked after it!

ahhh...they change drivers every couple of hour :D. mental for sure though with all different classes of cars on the track at the same time, all going different speeds. the lmp1 cars are on a different level entirely.

 I was feckin wondering about that :o

Still tho, some spectacle watching that over the weekend.. pretty exciting!

Its the whole experience really, from the blat down on Thursday, soaking up the atmosphere, chatting with old friends from last year, the start and then the relentless racing for 24 hours none stop, which is fascinating & gripping.

Then the end and the wind down on Sunday & discussing the race and back up home on Monday.

Also, of course there is the relentless drinking....;)
