Latest on the Rio injury ...

Out of weds game for sure.
Reports on the internet say he can be out for 2 to 6 weeks...
I guess we'll know more tomorrow

I think that, after all, it's a blessing in disguise for Manchester United. This will make all the other players aware not to rely 100% on Rio.

Hopefully also this has happened only before the start of the season.

With or without him Man Utd must win games...

Yeah, and O'Shea and Wes won't be worried about them, if they can handle the new maradona. ;)

Jens do you actually think we'll need Rio against West Brom, i say give him a couple more days to rest the ankle.

As long as the players don't I don't care, I'll still sing "You're going down".

the most improtant thing has to be to get the injury fully healded up, not to rush Rio back asap. If we misses 2 weeks and if fully healed it has to be preferable to rushing him into the WBA game at 80-90% and risking further injury.

so it had nothing to do with them being better than us that season ?

where did i say we were better than them?

they desvered it alot more

RUDDY is absolutey right.

Idiots who think last season was ok just that we had a crap defense dont know a thing about football. Probably the same people who think Rio will save the empire. What I mean is some people are satisfied too easily. Satisfied with our attack last year, with midfield, with only Rio. Satisfied with lethargic performances week in week out.

Satisfied with saying "oh well Arsenal had more points".

I can definitely understand Keane's anger at some team mates who might have a similar attiude i.e. versus 'pool: "oh well they fought harder, got the bounce of the ball and luck was on their side - wasnt our day - blah blah."

What I'd rather hear is "Jesus fecking Christ how the feck did we lose this one!! This is an outrage, we're man utd and we're invincible, who the hell do they think they are?!" and so on.

RANT OVER.

Who the hell are you to call anyone with a different opinion from yours an idiot ?
You walk (you know what I mean) around here as if your Fabio fecking Capello.

lets see what you are saying here
you agree with RUUDY who said that saying stuff like
yeah why rush him back we're playing West Brom

is why we lost the title last year.

then you say that what you would like to hear is

What I'd rather hear is "Jesus fecking Christ how the feck did we lose this one!! This is an outrage, we're man utd and we're invincible, who the hell do they think they are?!" and so on

Surely thats the same arrogant attitude as the sentence RUUDY referred to...

What I was trying to say to RUUDY is that despite the fact our own attitude cost us some points last year, we didn't lose the title, Arsenal won it, fair and square.

Agree there. But I trust O'Shea. He will be a good cover for Rio. Don't worry. Time for Fergie to sign Excude or Sorin.

Doubt O'Shea will even be playing against Zala or WBA, at least not from the start. I think it will be Phil or Gary on the right and Larry and Wes in the middle.

But when Rio injured it is O'Shea rather than Brown who came out to replace him. Therefore I believe O'Shea will have a fair chance to start in the CL Qualifier.

Just about to say that. Plus Wes was playing on the right more often these days.

Back to the subject of the thread here, some good news (IMO):

Rio in frame for Baggies ^top
Rio Ferdinand could be fit to face West Brom on Saturday after Manchester United revealed his ankle injury is not as bad as first feared
The England defender lasted just 25 minutes on his Old Trafford debut on Saturday after falling awkwardly when trying to leap out of the way of goalkeeper Roy Carroll.
Ferdinand will stay in Manchester for further treatment on his twisted left ankle while his team-mates travel to Hungary to take on Zalaegerszegi in a Champions League qualifier, but is in with a chance of making Saturday's Premiership opener against West Brom.
"Rio won't be fit for Wednesday, that's for sure. But his ankle isn't as bad as we thought," United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said.
"There has been no swelling, which is encouraging, and we will continue to look at the situation over the week, but we won't take him travelling to Hungary."
Youngster John O'Shea could make his Champions League debut in place of Ferdinand, but Wes Brown is also in contention for a starting role alongside veteran Laurent Blanc.
Carroll is tipped to fill in for Fabien Barthez, who looks certain to miss his third consecutive game with a thigh strain.
"I have a few choices but it's the way I prefer it," added the Scot. "Mentally we look very strong and our fitness is at the right level.
"Wednesday's game is the penalty we pay for finishing third in the Premiership.
"It won't be easy but it's essential we get through."

No point playing him against WestBrom and risking him for the match against chelsea. I think it will be rio's job to cancel out Hasselbaink if he's fit.

Also no point in risking Giggs's hamstring against WBA ;)

Seriously, if Rio is fit he should play on Saturday, if not - then no. There isn't a lot of grey area really.

I actually have that one, too bad it doesn't fit me anymore

Right this is getting serious!

I have 4 days left to make my Final Fantasy team selection and Rio is key to my defence! so is Rio going to be back or do I have to spend another day at work shuffeling the team so I spend my my full 50million and replace Rio!

Any update on his the likley premiership debut?
