There's nobody down here mate!
Let's get things straight right away, this is not a slag. But is anyone else worried about our goal scoring potential this season? All the talk is about another defender before the deadline but what about a striker???? Even if Forlan does start hitting the net soon we've got to have another one surely. SAF doesn't seem to think any of the reserves/youth are ready to step up a level so why is he not doing anything? I am trying to have faith in the genius that is Fergie but it's doing me nerves in!!!

I agree. We need one more striker rather than one more defender, that's what I've been saying since we got Rio. I think it is already widely agreed at least 4 strikers are needed to cope with the number of matches a top team will play in a season.

We may struggle without \yorke though

that's why we seemed clueless to break Liverpool and boro's defence last season.

In the "good old days" we have four strikers each providing something different to us, and no matter which two we chose to start with they seldom disappointed us. We lack that kind of variety and class in the current front line.

Er... I seem to remember a certain Andrew Cole also being available for selection for a while. But look, I know what you're saying and I think Ole and RVN are fantastic too, probably the best pairing in the prem, but they can't do it all by themselves.

I think we did alright to break Boro's defence, couldn't score in a brothel that day though

Pool was a different story, they just bored the feck outta everyone and then nicked a goal

Here's a thought that just popped up...

Perhaps Fergie is using the battle for midfield places to encourage Scholes to think about the striking position again.

Scholes seems to be the odd man out in midfield at the moment. It would be interesting to see how he'd make a go of the 'hole' player if he felt he really could do it, and it was the best way to guarantee a starting place alongside RVN.

Scholes could be an amazing link player, if only he could get over this mental block about it.

There is something wrong with Schols brain. When in midfield he plays like he wishes he was a strikergetting into the box all the time but when you put him upfront he gets lost. Very puzzling since he is a Bergkamp like player in terms of vision and playing in the hole would suit him best. Yet his brain can't communicate that to the rest of his body. Intriguing i must say

Give the team some time... all we need is Escude and a new striker (?!?) and you'll see what kick arse means... beleive me. ;)

Last season RVN and OGS scored 60 goals between them. No other strike partnership in the Premiership seemed to come close to this tally. No forgetting that Beckham had about 16 goals. Also, Giggs said that he would be happy to play as a striker if the need arises (I pray to God it never happens, in case one of our main strikers got hurt). If that happens, that would ease the fight for the midfield spot and SAF could play the favourable 4-4-2 formation. So, I think we are safe in the attacking department.

Our defence is still the main concern. I hope that with the return of Barthez and Rio that it would put some solidarity that's needed in the back four. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

As for today, let's show this Cudicini punk who the disgrace are!!!
