Personally I feel last night was upseting, hurtful and dam right discusting. Last night in my opinion SIR ALEX tactics where all wrong, looking at the begging of the match seeing giggs behind ruud was good but as the game went on i realised the following....

People winge that veron plays shit, well how the feck can he play well in a shitty role that hes not used to.

Giggs is better on the wing him and micky linking up is the best partnership down the wings in prem.

Ole on left MY GOD why not play ole on the right giggs on left and veron behind ruud this would of worked.

Ruud- It may off been the pitch but i think vans first touch let him down last night 4-5 times we had a great break on and ruud tried too much.

My team

Barthez
Neville Blanc Brown Silvestre
Ole Scholes butt giggs
Veron
Ruud

We need to be in full attack mode on Tuesday, which means Giggsy goes back to his wing and Ruud and Ole play up front. I seriously doubt we won't score at least twice with that setup.

I think fergie knows what went wrong, where it went wrong and why.

I have everyfaith he'll have it sorted by Tuesday.

ps Does anybody think that SAF thinks that as long as he has the best 11 outthere than tactics dont matter that much? Or does he just beleive in the tactics he employs.

FFS........We are drawing 2-2 at half time in the European cup semi final against probably the best team in Germany at the moment, and it amazes me how people are now saying that "Fergie got his tactics wrong".
We were very fortunate to even get a draw last night, and should really be over the moon that we are still in this game. An away victory is all that's required, we've done it b4 and we'll do it again.
Now, try to live with the fact that we can't win every game that we play, and believe it or not, there are actually some teams in the world that are better than us.

I rewatched the entire game again. IMO, we didn't take a lot of shots either. Giggs & RVN constantly tried some kind of flicks and trick when we sould have shot on goal. But SAF is going to sort it out by Tuesday

Then call him and tell him what to do, ok? ;) </strong><hr></blockquote>

What he said made sense though.

Why didn't we do it like that Wednesday then.

I was disappointed we didn't show the same bite as against Deportivo. We looked sharp and assertive in that game, against Bayer we looked sloppy and a bit dozy at times.

I was really surprised Fergie didn't make some tactical changes at 70 minutes - moving Giggs out wide and pairing Ole with Ruud.

We seemed a bit disorganised against a very good passing side. We didn't squeeze the space - they kept making those small passing triangles around us, moving forward as a team.

We need to rethink how we play against them if we're to come away with a win, I hear they're very strong at home.

I'm hoping for either of these line-ups for the 2nd leg

line-up #1

----------Barthez-----------

Phil--Brown----Larry--Micky

Scholes--Veron--Keane--Giggs

-----Ruud--------OLE-------

line-up #2

----------Barthez-----------

Phil--Brown-----Larry--Micky

-----------Butt-------------

Scholes--Veron---Keane--Giggs

-----------Ruud-------------

Both have their advantages and disadvantages but I like the #2 line-up simply because it is more stable. With Gaz and Ronny out we will need both Butt and Keane to shore up the defence, with Butt staying back in a holding position and also man-marking Ballack, giving Keane a more free role to help in attack.

I realise that Bayer have the upper hand and we need to be attacking as we can only really afford a win, but we also need to play it smart and build from the back, so that is why I have opted to leave Ole on the bench. We all saw how Bayer mismantled liverpool's defence and that is no easy task. Thats why we shouldn't undermine their abilities by putting out a completely attacking side.

Opinions?

Reckon it'll be (4-4-1-1)

Barthez
Irwin, Larry, Ronny (if fit), Mickey
Veron/Ole, Butt, Keane, Scholes
Giggsy
Ruud

The trouble with Veron in the centre is he needs too much protection, although his performance on the right against Bayer hardly inspires confidence.
