I'm thinking of getting a lead to go between my laptop and HDTV and was wondering if my laptop had to be able to play HD films for me to run it through my TV any help people?

depends where you are getting the films from, obviously a blu-ray film wont work unless your laptop has a bluray drive

if you are talking about HD video files then yea it will work

So if i download a film that is 1080 HD not bluray then i will be able to play it back through my HDTV even though my computer wouldn't be able to play it?

I'm doing just that with 24 and I've just watched Fringe in HD on my TV from my laptop.

You'll need a cable for the video and a seperate once for the sound.

Can anyone recomend the cables then i've got a Fujitsu Siemens laptop and Sharp Aquos 1080p HDTV? I don't no a great deal about technical stuff cheers.

Does your tv have a VGA plug in the back? If so just do what manxman said. I do this with my macbook pro. If your laptop isn't old chances are it will show better resolutions then your TV anyway.
