Hi Guys.

I'm a bit useless when it comes to Laptops, so go easy.

I'm looking a laptop which I can use to watch videos and browse the internet with ease. I'm also looking to play Football Manager 2012 in a high speed. My budget is £300, maybe £350 at a push. Would this amount of money get me what I need? I have listed the recommended spec for the stated game above.

OS – Windows XP/Vista/W7
Processor – XP : 1.4GHz or Faster; Vista/W7 : 2.0GHz or Faster
Supported Processors: Intel Pentium 4, Intel Core, AMD Athlon
Memory – XP : 512MB RAM; Vista/W7 : 1.0GB RAM
Hard Drive Space – 2GB
DVD-Drive – 4x Speed
Video Card – 128MB.
Supported Chipsets – Nvidia FX 5900 Ultra or greater; ATI Radeon 9800 or greater; Intel 82915G/82910GL or greater.
Earlier cards may only display 2D Match Viewer Mode and are not supported. Laptop versions of these chipsets may work but are not supported.
Sound Card – DirectX 9.0c compatible

My emachines E625 is finally beginning to crack up and I don't have the energy to re-format it again. Got ripped off at John Lewis 2 years ago by paying £300 for it!

I've found a couple.

Acer Aspire 5742 Intel Core i5-480M 3GB/320GB 15.5" Black Laptop - Laptops & netbooks - Computing & gaming - Technology - Sainsbury’s

and

Toshiba Satellite Pro C660-21C PSC0RE-01K01MEN

What do you Techies reckon is my best bet here?

Any ideas will be appreciated. Cheers!

I'm not too sure on the spec, but on general note, with the same amount of money, ACER will provide better spec than Toshiba, but off course Toshiba is more durable and posh.

You need to be abit more meticulous with ACER laptops, if you're a clean and neat person, go for acer, it's probably the best bang for your buck (compared to Toshiba)

internet + video is a given for every laptop, you might need a good RAM (upgradeable easy) and processor to play FM on a decent speed

The one that you suggested does look better tbf (Extra 120GB HD). But I have an 1TB External Hard drive so HD size doesn't bother me. Also went for the Asda one as I can pick it up at store, which helps as I'm at work all day and find it hard to catch the postman.

Also got £13 cashback on quidco :D
