Gone to bed.
I know it's a bit late to start this thread (season ends in 2 days) but is anyone else keeping an eye on the cricket?

As it stands:

Looks like we'll need a win and hope Warwickshire draw (as I very much doubt they will lose, looking at the scores). Durham also have a shout.

Latest scores:

Hampshire: 57-0 (20.0 overs)
Warwickshire: 493 (156.1 overs)

Somerset: 380 (125.4 overs)
Lancashire: 247-3 (71.0 overs)

Durham: 264 & 51-0 (18.0 overs)
Worcestershire: 288 (85.3 overs)

So, 2 days left. Is there any hope of ending the 70-odd year drought without an out-right title win? Looks unlikely, admittedly. Hampshire need to bat all day tomorrow, at least. As do Lancs, for that matter.

Think the blown it the other week against Worcestershire, beginning to think I'll never see them win it

Massive Lancashire CCC fan.

Nerves will start hitting me tomorrow.

My best friend now lives in Winchester, I've told her to do a rain dance tonight and tomorrow. She's more than happy to oblige, as she's a Lancs fan herself. So let's hope it works.

If Lancs win it, it will be like May 1993 all over again. I don't know how to celebrate a county championship win, it's never happened in my life time.

If the World were to end right now, Lancashire win the league!

If only by virtue of being before Warwickshire in the alphabet...

So have you ever spent the day at the cricket then toddled off up the road for the football in the evening?

A number of times.

Playing all games away from Old Trafford this season, and it's one of the main reasons why we're so close to winning the championship. Weather has been a hindrance in the past in Manchester.

Hampshire: 278-7 (89.4 overs)
Warwickshire: 493 (156.1 overs)

Somerset: 380 & 26-3 (12.5 overs)
Lancashire: 480 (126.2 overs)

Tell you what, Lancashire still have half a chance...

Hampshire all out, following on!

According to Sky, Warwickshire currently 2pts clear of Lancs.

It's not just the bad weather, this wicket at Aigburth seems to be something of a result wicket

Can't see them doing it

But they've done amazingly without any massive stars, just good solid players, their overseas players have done well despite not being big names

Hampshire 28-3 following-on at the close.

Somerset effectively 4-5 against Lancs.

Yeah, it's been a closely fought race, but Warwickshire are almost home and hosed. Great effort by Lancs, who on paper don't have a great looking side.

*** 13th May: Warwickshire deducted 8 points for poor pitch
*** 23rd June: Lancashire deducted 1 point for a slow-over rate
*** 14th July: Yorkshire deducted 2 points for a slow-over rate
*** 23rd July: Hampshire deducted 8 points for poor pitch
*** 20th August: Warwickshire deducted 1 point for a slow-over rate

Looks like we could have been further behind than we are...

...Or maybe not. Hampshire have put on 150 without losing a wicket (and are now 9 ahead) whereas we've reduced Somerset to 205/8.

Hampshire: 324 & 178-3 (49.5 overs)
Warwickshire: 493 (156.1 overs)
Lunch

Somerset: 380 & 205-8 (79.0 overs)
Lancashire: 480 (126.2 overs)
Lunch

Bloody Warwickshire can't get anyone out today :(

8 point deduction for poor pitch?! It's a conspiracy :wenger:

Somerset lead by 155 runs now - Lancashire really need to get one of these players out soon-ish.

The drama today, is as good as any final Sunday of the Premier league. I was fretting yesterday, but now it's just getting silly, come on Lancashire, bat well, do you job win the game and heap more pressure on Warwick's.

Minimum, so what's the maximum then?

How many hours of play left, about 3? Should mean 40+ overs surely? 29 overs suggests only a couple of hours of play left.

Someone please explain what is going on...

There is one hour of play left plus 16 overs (them's the rules).

Somerset are deliberately bowling slow (very slowly in fact). The maximum is as many as they can fit in the time limits.

Warks have just taken another Hampshire wicket - they are effectvely 90/5 now.

How has Karthik done for Somerset in this whole season?
Anyone has any idea?

Somerset are in no hurry, but Lancy 32-0 after five overs so a nice start. One over left before tea now. Minimum of 23 more overs available after tea.

Hants 94 ahead with 5 wickets standing. Just gone off for tea.

Right to the wire...

Nope, that's tea. Somerset changing fields every ball, placing men on the boundary, slow over rates. To be fair what you expect from a team in their position. It is now almost a Twenty20 target.

Yeah, that post got written in three bursts - by the time I'd finished it, it was time to edit it - just didn't catch 'em all.

This is going to be a long afternoon, or a too short one depending on how things go!
