Is there any element of embarrassment as a fan or player to their antics or is it just complete Trump-esque brainwashing?

There are fewer and fewer real life fans that openly criticise these meltdowns. I don't think people outside Spain realise the level of media control Florentino has and exerts. They could still win a domestic double but instead they have gone for this utter embarrassment. The trigger this time was a totally unhinged video against the cup final referee made and broadcast by the club's official tv channel.

Like if any other huge traditional club around the globe never acted as spoiled brats, obnoxious or plain wrong. All of them at some point do from silly to dubious stuff, mostly too because Clubs are who are in charge at a certain moment, even those with the biggest Aura and tradition.
 
I like Madrid, I've learnt to like em since I'm usually depending on them stopping City/Liverpool from winning the UCL.

But this is quite embarrasing.

No more embarrassing than another club in La Liga paying millions to referees and pretending it is all perfectly normal.

I was in Madrid recently and was watching Real Madrid TV and it was insane how much time they spent on bad ref calls against Real in the pre-match buildup.
 
It's funny how such a massive club can act so embarrassingly childish and small time. :lol:

That is lie. No referee was paid. So keep going. Embarrassing of a club tampering. What is true is that for 7 decades al the referee presodenrs were real madrid payinf supporters even one said publically that barcelona would not win a league while he would be the president. He was for 24 years

Deserves its own thread really. Both Spanish top clubs have become complete despicable scumbag entities that are communicating in a Trumpesque manner with no shame or self-awarness. The level of childish press releases or attack pieces over the years aimed at various institutions or individuals is mindboggling. You'd think 16 year old trolls are writing these pieces but they're actually coming from the official channels of companies worth billions in net worth.

The fact that an organization of such size and power can attack a single civil person without punishment and throw him to the public is truly beyond disgusting.We habe a grown man crying at a press conference describing how his son is being bullied at school because Real Madrid publishes attack pieces against him through their official channels and they have nothing better to do than to publish a statement afterwards in which they threaten a boycott if the referee does not stop his attacks against the club.

It's a shame that the Spanish football scene is apparently so bipolar that there's not enough force outside these two to actually put an end to this. Pathetic stuff really.

Their whole Zidane/Ronaldo/Figo galactico era and Ronaldo/Benzema eras were funded on the back of them and Barca getting more than 70% of the TV share for close to twenty years.

They can feck off with statements of unfairness.

Imagine how Deportivo, Betis and Valencia felt when they couldn't build on their own successes when Madrid were getting financial preferences to build super squads.

Imagine if United got 70% of the PL take.

Negreira. 7.3 Million. Not a lie.

Madrid are awful, Barca are awful. Both clubs should be expelled from La Liga but unfortunately the league would have no value without them so they get to make up the rules and cheat with impunity whilst pretending to be shocked at each others conduct.

I could agree to terms with the rest. That madrid and barça cry about the refs is embarrassing. But madrid is pushing it a notch with the theatrics lately

Yeah it's ridiculous. They do it ahead of every game too. Atlético Madrid have taken the mickey out of it several times.

This is a good example of why Perez must go. I have never liked him and always found myself in this boat with a minority our fans with whom we shared the same views about him. Never liked how he came with such smug smirk and savior complex after running away like a coward on his first stint. I admit, he did very well on the first half of this second stint. We brought in good players who became a good foundation for the club’s success. But in the process he has pretty much kidnapped the club and slaughtered any chance to take the throne off of him, and with the help of the media he controls, installed among our fans this ridiculous notion that everything will be doom and gloom if he leaves. Thus, leaving a lethargic fanbase that will rather stay quiet or go along with all his whims.

Now on his deliberately myopic view, he fancies himself in this war against Tebas and the FA, but hides behind Real Madrid TV as an instrument of intimidation. Yet, foolishly and disgustingly let himself entice by Laporta and his abhorrent corrupted club. Oh the irony, of complaining about referees only to throw yourself in the arms of the club who has payed millions to referees for decades. Openly claim and brag during an assembly with no shame in front of socios that Madrid and Barca must support each other. C'mon, how can you say that after everything we know about Barca? I detest the idea that the president of my club is shamesly in bed with the corruption, even pulling some strings behind the scenes. Because, at this point, I have little doubt that's been happening. But this farce has turned the image of the club as massive hypocrites and a laughing stock.

Saying he's not a ref when he was the vice head of Spain's referees committee at the time is purposefully being pedantic. Even Tebas has said that those payments by Barca to a high ranking refereeing official should not have happened because they are inappropriate and unethical.

The irony of these cnuts complaining about the refs before the game is played when they are in the final thanks to the refs vs Celta.
