I think Barca will win the league again. They made good additions to their defense and also signed Gomes and Suarez back.

Barcelona linked with a £26 million signing of Paco Alcacer, think it would be a wrong move football wise for him, extremely talented but won't start over the three front.

Super cup first leg should be good tonight.

I'm not sure about Barcelona this season, Alves is a huge loss. Don't rate Gomes, shocking fee to pay.

Second leg of the super cup is on at 10pm on Wed.

When I am watching this I wonder how Bailly ever managed to finish a match in La Liga.

Sevilla looking good so far. Controlled most of the game but they are susceptible to counters.

Sevilla are like the Southampton of La Liga. Still pretty good despite everyone just buying all their best players off them. Except Sevilla are obviously better.

I've always seen Sevilla as the Spurs of La Liga.

Goal Munir El Haddadi Mohamed
Assist Lionel Andrés Messi Cuccittini

I wonder if his wife told him to color his hair.

La Liga returns next weekend with a new sponsor. From one bank to another – Liga1 (Liga BBVA) becomes La Liga Santander. From one bank account to another Liga 2 (Liga Adelante) rather confusingly becomes La Liga 123.

La Liga starts on the 19th August and ends on the weekend of 20th/21st May
There’s a Liga break from 19th December to 7th January, however there will be Copa ties in there (on the 21st December and the 4th January or thereabouts)

Barca V Atletico – Match 5, return on Match 24 (24/25 February)
Atletico V Real Madrid – Match 12, return on Match 29 (8/9 April)
Barca V Real Madrid – Match 15, return on Match 33 (22/23 April)

At the end of last season Getafe, Rayo and Levante were relegated.
Alaves, Leganes and Osasuna were promoted – a little more about them in the next post.

The newly promoted.

Osasuna – Pamplona – back after two years in Liga 2
Claim to fame: Well, you should know these guys. I think of them as a mid-table Liga 1 team, who have blips. Part of the stand collapsed during the away leg of their promotion playoff match – when they celebrated an away goal.

Alaves – Basque team – relegated in 2006, and dropped into the 2Bs before recovering.
Claim to fame: Lost aet in the UEFA Cup final to Liverpool, 5-4, they lost under the golden goal rule.

Leganes – Madrid team – this will be their first ever season in Liga1
Claims to fame: La Liga’s only female president, she took over when the club was in the 2Bs. Last year the club had the lowest budget in Liga 2 (4.8m Euros – don’t laugh) and a 0 cost squad. She puts their success down to careful budgeting, teamwork and a great manager.
A very young Samuel Eto'o spent a year there on loan - 4 goals in 30 games. They really do need some good player loans now.

The Super Cup in Spain is only interesting if it's between Barca and Real Madrid........two games fora Super Cup is just boring.
That's certainly not true, the last three years the games have been good and none were Barca vs Real!

Espanyol has done a pretty decent team. Deportivo too, with Andone, who scored many goals in Córdoba and Marlos Santos (City loan). Last week they played against Villarreal the Teresa Herrera trophy (a summer trophy) and Colak played a great game (turkish from Galatasaray). Besides Bruno Gama is back, fans keep good remains of his past in the club, three years ago.
In the summer they talked about Paco Jémez but apparently he demanded too much money . I have my doubts about Garitano . He did well in Eibar but later Valladolid sacked him after a few games.

In general it seems that teams have not invested too much. Leganés and Osasuna should have bought more.

I expected some top signing for Valencia but apparently they have had to make cuts and probably they will lose Alcácer and Diego Alves in the coming days.
Speaking of coaches, I'm curious to see what Poyet does. I still remember him from the golden age of Zaragoza. I also believe that Pellegrino can do well at Alavés .
On the three favorites, I think that Atlético will maintain their usual consistency. They just need to be lucky with Gameiro , who was not the candidate Simeone wanted. About Barça, let´s see how Gomes adapts, and of course Umtiti, being CB at Barcelona is not easy.
In addition they should still get the substitute of MSN.

About Madrid, there is much talk about Asensio, plus the press begins to insist that Zidane doesn´t want James and are looking for a way out. Today I was reading an article in Marca and surprisingly many fans would sell Isco instead of him.
There are also rumors that in the coming days the decision about the transfer ban will be announced, which could cause some movement in the transfer market.

Cheers.
Do you know if it will be updated till the Transfer Deadline Day???

I wondered the same thing. Marca maintains a live section for the signings so I think will be updated. At least I did not miss anyone.

Kovacic is playing a great match today (Santiago Bernabéu trophy). For what I read he did a very good preseason and Madrid rejected some offers since Zidane is very happy with him.

Got tickets for Barca-Alaves on September 10th, first time visit to Nou Camp  Just hoping MSN stays fit until then and they all play.

Barca vs FC Sevilla (Super Cup 2nd leg....Barca have won 2-0 in the 1st leg) starts right now.....a 23.00 pm kick-off must be wierd even for Spain.

Interesting that Bravo starts.

great goal from barca, fantastic header from Messi:drool:

Barcelona could win another treble this season.

Huge strength in depth.

Huge strength in depth.

Best depth they've had perhaps ever, save for a wide attacker

Happy to see Arda finally had some success in the starting lineup, as a winger - certainly isn't going to stretch defenses with pace but against a deep block (Most of the time) his dribbling can help. Prefer pace out there but he looked good & useful last night, 1st time in a year

Lucho with 8 out of 10 possible trophies to start his Barcelona coaching career after two years, matching Pep - the play, however, Guardiola's legacy remains the reference

Sevilla had moments of real style & danger under Sampaoli but they will require more time to incorporate the changes from Emery.

Don't you think your midfield is still below what it could be? I know Messi drops deep but I've felt for awhile that your midfield could do with some sprucing up. Iniesta and Rakitic is a very good duo, but I think one player to give some more dynamism and spark from that position, could add a lot.
