26th November 2002: Ferguson swoops to try and snatch Liverpool target
Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson has launched an attempt to snatch the extremely highly-rated Servette defender Philippe Senderos from under Gerard Houllier's nose after learning that the Reds had invited him to Melwood for a trial.
Alerted to the player's availability and willingness to speak to Liverpool, Ferguson is now already one step ahead of Houllier after bringing the defender over to Old Trafford on Saturday to see the 5-3 win over Newcastle United.
The VIP treatment was thrown at Senderos who able to travel to England as he's currently ruled out of action for a couple of weeks with a minor knee injury.
Senderos still plans to visit the Liverpool facilities and claims he doesn't know if he will opt for United or Liverpool.
"It is the heart that will speak. Equally, the sporting aspect," said the 17-year-old.
