Japan's entry for the Oscars this year. Just seen it,very good and despressing film... anyone else seen it? Hugely recommended.

From what i gather so far it's quite graphic and disturbing, i've seen quite alot of graphic, gore, violent japanese flick, they're so over the line it doesn't bothers me because i know they're fake.
But this... seems to be pretty dark and grit.

Not that violent and graphic... but the story is harsh... it's one of those movies where the sun will never rise... depressing shit, but can't help but admire how it's been put together. Good stuff.
Japanese flicks are an anomaly, they're really an alien in the movie galaxy.
I don't know what's the difference but certainly when you watch Japanese movie you feel the difference. The use of color, seems like they're trying hard to be comical in every movie, some darker stories are very dark, and nothing seems to be in between (other than their porn)

Haven't watch it, only the trailer. But from it i suspect there's gonna be a murder. And to watch a typical working Jane Doe calmly murdering someone is creepier than all the violent yakuza head choping for me

PS: Just watched brothers.. quite strong start, but somehow got absurd in the middle. Surely those glory death seeking yakuza's got better things in mind rather than death, cutting limbs, and harakiri shits

There's a version with English subs up now on various despicable sites. I just saw it and it was very good indeed. Morbidly disturbing and really well made.

I had my hands on the english subtitles before this post was made. They're good subs that help a lot in the appreciation of the dialogue.
Hated it. In fact I wish I hadn't seen it. Talk about about heavy handed....
