Kindle

Neither version of the Kindle do, although I'm not sure about the Kindle Fire.

You can buy a little light you can clip on the top.

I had one for Christmas and love it. The lack of light doesn't bother me at all, I wouldn't be able to read a book in the dark!

The problem with backlit readers is eye strain. That's why the Kindle has no backlight.

I have the official Kindle case with light (only for the larger Kindle). It's expensive but the light is fantastic and I read it in bed at night and it doesn't keep the Mrs awake.

I have this one.

I doesn't bother your eyes and it's a pretty strong light. If you sleep on the left side of the bed your missus won't be affected. The light comes from the Kindle itself that's plugged to the cover.

Wish I knew about these covers before I went out and bought one of those flexible lamp things, which doesn't even clip on to the Kindle properly.

I've done some searching online and the official one is around £40 though, seems a bit steep?

It is. I got it as gift but it's very nice. It's also a good protecting cover and looks nice. Not just the light.

Yeah, that's the one I have. It is expensive, but probably just about worth it. You always have a light, and your Kindle is well protected.
