Kim Kallstrom

At 2M he's a real bargain. I think he'd be better suited for Premier League however.

I have been raving about this guy for a while now but he has taken the step from talent to a VERY good player in the past few months. He has played a couple of games for Sweden now and has done well and learned from it. His game for Djurgården against Copenhagen was just out of this world. He's the best Swedish midfielder today IMO, even better than Ljungberg. 2m is a bargain for the club that snatches him.

If he keeps going the way hes going hell be the complete midfielder, tough, skillfull, hardworking, you name it.

You've seen Djurgården at the stadium this year Murt? I'd love to see them - and especially Kim - live. Just looking at him on TV gives you the impression that he owns the games 100% with his passes, tacklings and shots. Best talent I've seen come out of Swedish football.

Yep, and they also show Djurgården vs FC Copenhagen in the UEFA cup on october 3.

They say several teams were in Copenhagen to look at Kim in the last game, and considering how he played I would be surprised if he is sold for only 2m

I've seen him live this season. Big, strong, skilful, a fine shot, a bit too slow, extremely one footed (left), tends to disappear at times. Reminds me in a way of Norman Whiteside, but hopefully doesn't drink as much. Somewhat overhyped in my opinion but well worth £2m and more. I prefer Alexander Farnerud (who I haven't seen live). But I can't see why either of them would want to join United at this stage. They've seen what it did for Bojan Djordjic.

What 47 said kind of giving me a very "uncertain" thinking abt this guy ...

Comparing him and Djordic ... he's much better, agree everyone? much much more .. ?

The problem though is - if he is a CM and don't think he can break off the challenge of Butt, Keano, Scholesy and Veron for a place in our 1st team line up for CM, he won't be coming ... not even 5-7mil ...

I am happy though .. that we are talking abt SENSE here ... sensible target and buy .... I have gone really fed-up abt all the big-names talks ...

These two guys are on totally different levels. Källström has grabbed a spot in the national team and is likely to hang on to that for years to come. Djordjic is not anywhere close to the national team.

Do you work for Ajax ? <img src="graemlins/annoyed.gif" border="0" alt="[Annoyed]" />

I listed him at 3m for a reason. That's what was reported in the rumour mills.

I have seen him live a couple of times. He is Djurgårdens best player by far.He is one of Allsvenskans best players .He should be first choice in the Sweden line up.United should buy him and then loan him out for one season. And I am saying this as a Bajen fan,Djurgårdens biggest rivals. He is miles ahead of Djordic who has gone back in his development.

Must you always resort to sarcasm with every response to me?

Neil has kindly replied on my behalf ;)

The "Man Utd" tax factor - never forget that!

Come on mate, AIK is Djurgården's biggest rivals. ;)

I don't think they would be able to turn United down should a bid arrive.

And to compare them with Bojan isn't fair as Bojan came as a talent, Källström (or Farnerud for that matter) would come as a squad player. I'd rather compare it to Ljungberg's situation when he joined Arsenal.

Kallstrom played great against Copenhagen in the UEFA cup the other night. Someone will make a hell of a deal when they buy this guy...

What do you think of this Stefanidis guy? I think he has been great for Djurgården lately. So has Dorsin too BTW, there we have the new LB for Sweden IMO

Källström scored a winner on penalty for Djurgården again tonight :D

Check out a film clip of Källström's sweet left foot at: <a href="http://www.aftonbladet.se/sport/webbtv.html" target="_blank">http://www.aftonbladet.se/sport/webbtv.html</a>

It sounds like he is cautious to take the right career steps, to benefit his development. So, he is unlikely to come to OT to fight it out for a place in an exceptional midfield, when he can get guarantees of first team football elsewhere, while still making a step-up to a stronger league. And hard to see us going for him with a number of young midfeilders still emerging, like Fletcher and Stewart.

If he should be a real target in the future, then it would be better he go to a mid-table prem side now, rather than to the continent, as it would be easier for United to negotiate such a transfer than one in Spain or Italy, under the noses of some other big clubs. Also he would be adjusted to the english game.

Villa could be a good move for him, as he would get to dominate the midfield (he would be their best player by a mile). They've got some decent strikers so he would probably be able to link up well with them too. The two Swedish players in Villa would help him settling in there, so I'd think Kim will consider going there.

I was just reading that the Arse and Villa i think were lining him up, the last thing in the world we want is the Arse signing him up!

You're joking. He's good but he wouldn't be any premiership team's best player, let alone by a mile.

(Well, maybe City's...)

Of course he would be. Take Villa: who would be better than Kim among their current midfielders? Hendrie is OK but not anywhere near Källström's class.

thomas hitzelperger (sorry about hacking the name up) he looks the deal for villa.

Källström scored a goal again tonight, with his right foot mind you. Goal no. 12 for him this far in Sweden this season.

I've heard him described as a DM, similar in style to Gerrard, a holding midfielder with good vison and an eye for goal, does that sound right?

He's an offensive midfielder. Is similar to Gerrard but also to Scholes, tho left footed. Would probably be good as DM to but he's better offensive. He's by far the most mature footballer I've ever seen at his age.

He did play as a DM initially for his club, and played very well in that position. I prefer to see him as an attacking midfielder though
