Another day, another woman let down and left to struggle in the controlling hands of a sub-human cowardly waste of skin piece of shit bloke.

The story behind this one is just harrowing, and it's made worse by the guy smiling in court, winking at his current girlfriend during the proceedings, and showing absolutely zero remorse. He used coercive behaviour to bully and manipulate a young woman, beat her, threatened to mutilate her, told her to kill herself. He's only been sentenced to six years.

Kiena was a young mother, worked two jobs to provide for her daughter, struggled with her own demons and was rewarded by the police once again failing to act when someone suffers from domestic abuse. She was still receiving treatment in hospital after the final assault when he was walking out of a cell. She took her own life days later.

Grim. Very grim. 6 years feels quite long given that they were cleared of manslaughter. Still not enough though.

Don't take this the wrong way but I don't really understand the point of these threads?

Same with the grim ones about child abuse. There's never anything useful or interesting to discuss and all they really achieve is making everyone who opens them feel a little bit sadder than they were before they read it. And I know the guy behind the OP is far too nice a person to have that as their goal!

Anyhoo. I'm a mug for clicking and reading the link. So I will share the blame.

Given the current problems in society where abuse against women is rampant, I felt it was a relevant story and posted about it. If you personally can't think of anything to say on the subject, other than you don't like the thread, then fair enough.

Christ that is grim.

There’s still far too many as we’ve seen on the CAF with the Greenwood case whose attitudes towards domestic violence enable cultures to persist in which whilst it’s not encouraged, it’s hard for victims to come out in confidence of receiving support and care from the relevant authorities and those around them.

It also while uncomfortable helps us have a frank conversation about the state of our support systems for victims, our legal system in dealing with these cases and raising awareness for those who may wish to shy away from these uncomfortable truths.

For example how the victim had her mental health used as a weapon against her by the abuser preying on that insecurity and anxiety of losing her children to the state if her situation was uncovered.

So often blame is placed with the victim for not leaving but until we remove this stigma or make significant steps forward cases like these will continue as statistics suggest most victims return several times before finally being able to break free of the abuse.

Depressing to read that this scum bag had a current girlfriend in court supporting him. Hopefully she hasn’t fallen foul of his ways and manages to cut ties whilst he’s inside.
