So Mbabu was on his way from Fulham — where he has been sat on the bench — to Monza but then Monza learns that the deal is off since we have jumped into the negotiations. Sounds as a somewhat credible source/story

But why? Is Dalot’s injury worse than expected? Are we about to accept a high offer for AWB?

Can't get a game at Fulham. This can't be serious unless it's a loan of some sorts?

Or they want 60m from Chelsea?

Wouldn’t that mean AWB is going?

Relax... It is one of the worst sources out there. No way we are letting AWB leave now, especially with him playing like he does and Dalot injured.

We've already scraped through the bottom of the barrel and are now digging in the dirt underneath, if true.

Aha, is it that bad huh?

Like it’s one thing to be suspicious of reports that we are bidding 125m for Enzo Fernandez and stuff like that. But someone have to have a pretty creative mind to out of the blue come up with this rumor. Kevin Mbabu is also the prototypical "Ajax Target". We know how much influence ETH has.

With that said — it’s of course in any event perfectly possible that stuff have been exaggerated along the way. We can inquire about players just for the sake of being able to put together a short list of 5 possible names, so that if someone asks when a decision is to be made, an answer can be given. And what really makes me question this more than anything is that Mbabu can't be in much of a game shape right now, can he. If ETH has his sights on a CDM/No 8 alternative that could be had for 20-30m and we can sell AWB for 35m -- its hard to deny the logic of getting a RB on the cheap and going for the midfielders instead of just keeping AWB. But Mbabu haven't played this year basically...

He was outstanding against us in Switzerland for Young Boys, but we were rubbish in those days.

This guy is possibly one of the worst defenders I've ever seen.

Clearly just agent fed rumours.

He is a good full back who has never done well in ENgland at Newcastle of Fulham, but we have two good right backs, only if we are sellign one should we be signing one and only a stellar potential one at that. I like Mbabu but no thanks for us

The current crop of made up transfer links have to be the most half-arsed I've ever seen. Probably because anybody who wants to keep it even halfway plausible knows we're skint.

Just my speculation, but I don’t think this one is made up, I think it’s way overblown. But even if it’s not going to happen — it’s activity. Under our previous managers, we would have tossed in the towel. To me this shows that we are looking at possible alternatives and that we are willing to be creative.
