Keegan eyes Johnsen on Bosman from TEAMTALK

Kevin Keegan is reportedly ready to pounce for centre-back Ronny Johnsen who was yesterday released by rivals Manchester United.

Keegan is known to be looking for another central defender after completing the signing of Dutch youngster Tyrone Loran. He has been linked with Derby County's Chris Riggott and Ipswich Town's Titus Bramble, and is still the favourite to land Paris Saint-German star Sylvain Distin who has been on loan at Newcastle this season.

Johnsen has spent six seasons at Old Trafford, but his ongoing injury problems have resulted in boss Sir Alex Ferguson not offering him a new deal. There is no doubting his defensive qualities and Keegan may be ready to take a risk to bolster his rearguard with such an experienced campaigner.

If he does land the Norwegian international, it would represent a second coup for City after signing former Reds keeper Peter Schmeichel from Aston Villa.
