When Keano got sent off, a certain number of posters laughed it off, said it wasn't important, that MacAteer got what he deserved etc.

Well bearing in mind that Keane was not going to have his op. yet, so would have still been available, maybe those supporters now get the point that Keane's action, no matter how much we understand the reasons behind it, has now come back to haunt us.

As pointed out at the time, it's Manchester United that are suffering the most.

Totally agree Liv - once I knew Keane was out of todays game I felt more positive.

MU without him are half a team.

Keano had his operation after the Boro match so he wasn't going to play today anyway.

Keane wasn't going to have his operation yet - it was only because of his sending off that they brought it forward.

Good! Then we'll have him later when it counts, assuming he stuffs the FA which I certainly hope he does and should.

We have a different problem do we not? the defence seems reasonable at the moment with Nev & Brown to come. The problem is our pop gun forwards. Can't see it lasting!

Well it would have been nice to have him now - get a few wins under the belt.

And the forwards are missing chances yes - but they aren't getting enough service from midfield to balance that out.

Our midfield does not have it's usual drive, this is down to us playing to narrow IMO. Becks and Giggs need to get down the flanks and get the ball into the box with everyone haring in on the ball, after all that is how we are most effective.

The knee has been troubling him for some time. He should have had it done as soon as he got home after the Irish fiasco.

I agree. But facts are he was playing OK, and it wasn't going to be sorted till later.

We miss him.

do you know what i think?

Oh Keano's he's magic,
He wears a magic hat,
And when he saw Old Trafford,
He said I fancy that,
He didn't sign for Arsenal,
Or Blackburn 'coz they're shite,
He signed for Man United,
'Coz they're fecking dynamite.

Lets talk about United's midfield service to the forwards for a bit, as this for me, has been a major problem this season.

Someone said above that we need to be getting down the flanks, but do you not think that this is slightly repetative & predictable ? Today it was so obvious that when Beckham, Giggs or Silvestre got the ball that it would be pumped into the box area, Leeds would have a man there ready to head it out and bingo, Leeds have the ball ! It happened time and time again and was beginning to get very irritating.

One goal I recall was Andy Cole's (I think) against Barcelona in the 3-3 draw a number of seasons ago. The attack went up the middle and there were some neat back heels, dummys and step overs - including a one, two - and then the goal. It was clever, it was fast and it was creative football. They made it look so easy and it was a joy to watch. It didn't always come off, but this was their intention, to drive forward and do things that fool the defending team.

Today and of late, this sort of play is history, long gone. It happened only ONCE when RVN should have scored today, but there is no counter attacking football any more. It is predictable and lacks a serious amount of flair and creativity. When I see Giggs running at a defence I honestly don't believe in him any more. He has given the ball away so much of late that it's almost expected. When Beckham whips the ball into the box I am expecting an defender of the opposite team to be there. Back in mid 90s it was quite the contrary ! When United went forward like a steam engine you were wondering is there a chance that a ball might be wasted. They always made use of their play back then.

My point is that I'm not so quick to beleive it's because they are not using the Flanks that the midfield - Forward play is suffering.
