...that the injuries are no excuse.

Can't agree with that one Roy. During the season we've had Ruud, Gaz, Rio, Becks, Butt and himself out for lengthy periods. Not just one at a time, but often most of them together.

If we could play as well with star players missing, it would mean we had a great in-depth squad, and we haven't.

Apart from anything else, having so many injuries all season has made it impossible to pay a settled side which you need for the team to gel and cohesion.

to quote keane, he said "we have ONE or TWO injuries and it's no excuse"

well, we have rio, gaz, butt, keane, becks out.. that's plenty more than 2.

although it all comes down to our depth, which is clearly not enough.

Of course you are right to some extent, but if you consider the spineless performance of the whole team against City, then you see what Roy means. Injuries of course provide an excuse for the team underperforming, but not for individuals.

Maybe if he'd had his damn op in June which was supposed to be the original plan after being sent home from WC then we might have him playing now. Guess the book needed plugging though!

I just don't believe that those players went out there not wanting to win.

I prefer to believe that they went out there with a total lack of confidence/belief in themselves, and played with the kind of fear you associate with that kind of feeling.

The media are on their backs, the supporters are on their backs, their captain is on their backs, the manager is on their backs.

It's not all down to the players!

If 20, 30, 50, 80 Grand a week doesn't motivate you then what the hell does.

They're only human. Things are going wrong - most of them have never had to deal with it before.

They have their pride - it's not all down to money either.
