Anyone got his latest Album, 'Gradution', if so, is it any good, and is it worth asking for it for Christmas ?

Also, if I get it, which tracks on it should I look out for ?
 
Kanye's new album is pretty solid.

Good Life, Homecoming, Stronger, & Flashing Lights are the hit tracks.
 
can't tell me nothing is pretty good, but everyone i know finds that song annoying
 
I like the new album.

Not really sure if I would categorize him in the hip hop bracket anymore though. It has a lot of different mixes in it.
 
I haven't heard it but since seeing him live earlier this year i think I'm safe in assuming that it is complete and utter rubbish.
 
fecking hell, there's a lot of hatred for Kanye on this board.
 
Its a decent enough album. The track with Chris Martin stands out for me.

Not his best, but it's a solid album.

Mike Myers looks like he really wants to be somewhere else.

As did I when he was on stage.
 
Harsh to say he's not good live. In fact, it's just wrong. I've seen him twice and he was quality; he was energetic and you can tell how much time was spent in organising the whole thing. My favourite thing was when he sang "Stronger" and had all of his bad reviews come up on the big screen behind him..I'd never seen that before. Wibble, if you saw him as a supporting act then that would vaguely explain it not being his best show, and fair enough if you're not a fan but you must be able to appreciate his energy on stage even if you hate his music.

As for his new album, I've only heard it once and it didn't sound anywhere near as good as his first two. That being said, sometimes it takes a few listens to get into an album.

No but it is an important component of a good live performance. You can think he's a shit musician but still think he's a good performer. I'm sure the Spice Girls are good live because they wear skimpy costumes (not such an appeal these days though) and spend loads of money on flashy effects, that does not mean I think they're good musicians.

I completely agree ecantona7, his first album actually was very good as well, but since he has blown up its all gone to his head, and he just doesnt produce good music anymore it's as simple as that
 
Kanye West was brilliant when he was unknown. His production was hands down some of the best around at the time. As soon as his name got out and he hit the spot light, he turned to rapping, which for me was his downfall.

On his new album you can still hear some of what he had, but his focus and style has changed. I'll still look forward to hearing tracks produced by Kanye for actual rappers. Solely production wise, he still has talent. But as his new album shows, it's not the same as his old stuff, that real Hip-Hop sound he used to perfect is gone.

Even though it isn't as good as his Underground work, it's still worth a listen right ?
 
Kanye West is a quality live act from what I've heard. Wibble is clearly being a spaz. Graduation was better than Late registration but not as good as Colllege Dropout.
 
agree with deagle, college dropout is a classic imo, almost every song was great. it's better than late registration though.

anyone have alicia keys' new album? freakin awesome

No. He was utter rubbish.

People have just got used to the utter rubbish that is around these days.
