Kanye West: The College Dropout

Anyone got this album, and if so, is it any good ? I've heard it's pretty fecking awesome!

I've got his latest album, 'Graduation' (which I love by the way) but how does the music on 'The College Dropout' differ from his latest work ?

And apart form the obvious, 'Through The Wire' and 'Jesus Walks', which tracks should I look out for ?

Yeh, its orite actually, typical Kanye really (well typical as in when he started appearing on his tracks instead of just producing them).

All Falls Down - was another track that stood out from the album.
Slow Jams ft. Twista - another decent track that came out from it
Never let me down ... Get em' High .... etc
Last Call is like a 12 minute track talking about events in his life up till now...

To be honest, if you like his other stuff you will enjoy this album. It's listenable' all the way through if you know what I mean.

Ain't got his new one yet although heard a few tracks off it sounds good.
 
Yeah it's a good album, lots of great tracks

I liked All Falls Down, Spaceship, Get Em High and Workout Plan. Not mentioning the two you already said

Graduation is very good too, some cool songs on it.
 
Brilliant album. I think its better than Graduation and Late Registration.

It has more of a soul feel to it, whereas Graduation has more of a mainstream commercial appeal.

Family Business is my favourite track. "Last Call" is a brilliant outro to the album, he explains how he got into the music business etc... its 13 minutes long, great track.
 
I cant stand Kanye West. I think he is a disgrace for hip-hop. He is a clown. He shouldn't even be mentioned in any connection to rap or hip-hop at all. Maybe it's because the only hip-hop I listen to is uncomercial, deep underground stuff or maybe it's because he generally behaves like an arrogant prick (that he is), I just despise him. He's got a shit personality and his music is overrated, tbh.
 
Through the wire, family business, jesus walks, all falls down, never let me down, slows jams, all falls down, are the best songs. Kanye's best album to date IMO

To each their own. College Dropout was best of his three, Late Registration was a pretty good follow-up but Graduation was a flop. He's run out of things to rap about. Out of the 16 tracks on Graduation only the first 6 are worth listening to.
 
The College Dropout was top notch, after that he got way to cocky and hasnt backed it up in his music since save for an occasional good song

I like 'Graduation', there are only 2 tracks that I didn't like. I must admit, at first I thought it was a bit shit, but it's most definatly a grower, the more I listen to it, the better it gets.
 
He talks the talk, but he can most definitively walk the walk as well...

Because he got pissed off and started swearing ? Your telling me you've never done that, got so angry that you've lost it ? Because if you haven't, I give you my utmost respect, because you must have a lot of self control, I know I've seen red before, and when that happens, you just lose it, and end up saying some very stupid things. It doesn't make you a dickhead though.

What makes him a dickhead is this stupid ranting about "give a black man a chance". What on earth is that supposed to mean? It's absolutely ridiculous, just imagine the outrage if a white artist would say something like that. Especially since Black Eyed Pees are black as well (apart from that chick). This just shows how thick he is. Yea ok, you lose an award, but it's not straight away a white-supremacist conspiracy!

The same thing is when he said that stupid shit thing "Bush doesnt care about black people". What?? Having Dick Cheney as his chosen 'father' and C. Rice around him doesnt count at all or what? If you wanna say something about Bush then "Bush doesnt give a feck about mankind and humanity in general" but dont play that ridiculous racial card. He is just an idiot imo. There are rappers who with one album said more then he ever will in his whole career. So fair enough if you like his music etc. but what puts me off even listening to him is this bullshit he gives away every time he opens his mouth. Rappers like Sage Francis, El-P, LMNO, Immortal Technique, Talib K., even Mos Def and Common make Kanye West look like a complete moron.

As I say, when you lose it and 'see red' you often end up saying things that you would never normally say. I can't remember the amount of times I've lost my cool and said stuff that was like, 'what the feck is he on about ?!'. Also, if memory serves me right, that was the second year in a row that Kanye has been snubbed for the award, having been the favourite to win it. If that was me, I know I'd be a little bit pissed.

That was to do with Hurricane Katrina, right ?

Now, I don't want to get into the whole politics of it, but the black community as a whole felt that Bush had not done as much as he could have done to help out the people of New Orleans, because the majority of the population were black Americans. Now, whether or not that is true, only Bush himself knows, but Kanye basically said what the black community of New Orleans were feeling. I guess you could say that he was standing up for the little people.

The best example of Kanye's retardedness is the contrast between two songs of his:

"Jesus Walks" and then, "Gold Digger" - what an absoloute twat...
