<a href="http://www.ananova.com/sport/soccer/story/sm_782190.html?menu=sport.football" target="_blank">here</a>....even half that is way too much at his age...greedy gits

Yeah, I was actually thinking the same...£7 mill would be a good price & at that I'd say go for it big time...but this is rediculous even allowing for transfer hype!

I wouldn't pay a pound for him. Simply buy Robinson and everything will be fine.

No,suppose to be 70mil german money during the war world 1 defeated

I seem to recall Fergie stating he liked a keeper to have a strong personality like the dane, Kahn certainly fits that profile, but how many years does Ollie Kahn have left, because United don't usually like to pay a big fee on an older player. 3-4 years seems realistic, then there is the question of how much Bayern would demand(treansfer fee) to have him for that time- add that to his wages and he becomes quite an expensive 3 year hire with little resale value.

You must mean after the world war 1 and before the world war 2. Talking of these world wars, do we really need a man from a country who lost them both? Might not fit in the winning culture we have at OT.

Methinks the Chinese to English translator you use, loses something in it's translation

Kahn is the best keeper since Big Dane. I feel he is today, what Schmechel was back than. How many times did he save Germany/Bayern from losing? Remember Munich last year when he saved that thunderbolt from Keano, similar one to Ronaldo's third goal. We should try and sign him but 70 mil!!?! IMO 10-12 mil would be OK.

Unfortunately, I have to agree. If only we had got Kahn right after the great Dane went to Portugal. :(

Now, he is still the best in the world, but unfortunately, his age and price don't make him an ideal choice.

The heart says heck the logic and sign him up.
The head says that a younger keeper would be much better and give us stability and continuity at the back.

With that price tag he will surely attract Real Madrid!

Bayern are celebrating their championship win here at the moment. This is in the form of a party in the main square with all the players and thousands of fans. All very happy and good for them I spose. Interestingly though Kahn when interviewed by Germanys' most famous and respected reporter he was questioned about a move to England and Kahn basically said this isn't the right time to talk about this.

Heard that Rummenigge had promised Kahn a front office position when he retires. Interesting to see how all of this plays out.

Just interviewed by the other channel - the reporter asks him about an English course he's just enrolled in (I might be wrong on that though) and Kahn says nothing again and then the reporter comes straight out with it and asks if he's had contact with United and Kahn pretends he can't hear him over the noise of the crowd and says "who?", the guy says "Man Utd" and Kahn evades the question by saying that all that is important now is winning the league and he points to that feckin horrible silver plate they award the winners.

with £70m we can buy 2 great strikers, why do we need a GK? lol (basketball score line)

Saw Bayerns' no2 last season, he looked pretty sharp, Wessels I think his name was, maybe Bayern could let Kahn go.
Am I missing something or is Kahn unhappy for some reason, because he's a very influencial player for Bayern, they would drag their heels for sure.

Though a deal for Kahn looks unlikely because of his age and Bayern's reluctance(such a key player is hard to replace= big fee), he would be a great instructor to a young defence. He's got vast experience at the top; world cups, german championships and CL, and he's a very direct no nonsense individual(some would say wanker). A forceful charachter like Kahn would really give the younger lads a lift, and if Fergie signed Blanc he could certainly sign Kahn(oh well, I've contadicted myself :D ).
