I think we need to get the both of them ASAP.

I saw enough to know that these guys are as good as people say they are. Mexes is particularly impressive since he is more of a finished article than Cisse.

You know when you see the Nevilles do abit of skill? Or maybe Ferdinand or Stam? It always looks kinda dodgy, but with Mexes he plays with the ball as if he was a midfielder, he does Veron style flicks over incoming attackers, long balls that wouldn't look out of place coming from a Beckham boot. Basically this guy is great on the ball. One criticism might be that he made a few mistakes from attempting complicated things, bit like Barthez, but nowhere near as bad. i.e. one moment where he tried to turn a striker who read him and tackled him in the box.

Defensively Mexes was incredible, he was never beaten convincingly, not in the air, not by pace, nothing. He was a brick. We need this guy cos soon his value is just gonna rocket and rocket. I dont like the look of Hofland anymore after seeing this guy. Great defensively and great on the ball. We NEED him! He had everything as far as I'm concerned.

Cisse IMO still needs to improve his game, that said he was playing up front by himself and he did impress me alot. His pace is incredible, just like a 100m sprinter only he can accelerate without the push off. His shots remind me of Hasselbaink but one aspect of his game reminds me of the Heskey of old. The one that just blasts the ball as hard as he can hoping for a goal. Cisse does try to aim for the corners etc though and I heard that he is working on his finishing, I reckon he will improve with ease.

He wasnt too good in the air, but everything else more than makes up for it. He is a good dribbler at speed and when you look at him you just know he will raise Hell in front of our midfield. Then again he'd also be deadly replacing Owen, similar attributes. I just hope we get him cos he will be absolutely deadly given time. Much more powerful and athletic than Owen. Cisse and RVN would be the best in the world in terms of sheer devastation. But how they'd work together I dont know, Cisse seems to play well with a foil similar to Teddy, I'm not sure on his team work, recieving service seems fine but in a partnership I dont know how he'd perform.

If you get a chance keep an eye out for Auxerre and witness these two class acts. I guess I'm the newest member of the Cisse/Mexes fan club. Although I have to say I'm more eager that we get Mexes sooner rather than later.

Mexes has definitely gained confidence within the past 12 months. I hope we get him. Class defender AND he scores goals too. ;)

You know how feel about Cissé.

I don't know, how do you feel about Hefty?

Almost doubled his goal tally for the season in one game you know.

Now that's what I call impressive.

I have watched Mexes half a dozen times this season from match highlights and he strikes me as a speedy young Blanc

One weakness is he doesn't use his physique to block out attacks as much as some of the others eg Stam, Keown

It's all speculation at the moment, we'll see who Sir Alex will target as soon as the summer arrives

Cisse athleticism gets him into many good goal scoring positions, and his finishing is improving(not that its bad, he is third top scorer in France despite a one month lay off). There is a buzz when he gets the ball, he would be a great investment entertainment-wise.

And Mexes technically is class, he's not your run of the mill cart horse CB, he's more of a thoroughbred. And he is very assured on the ball. Actually, there was a game a while ago, where he came out of defence into midfield with the ball, layed it off to the winger, sprinted forward and when the cross came over he rose with the defender and headed it home. There are good young CBs appearing; Terry, Bramble, King, etc. Chivu of Ajax is another good technical young CB, and Hofland too is steady, but Mexes is just a different class.

Yes, we should pull out all the stops to get these too.

I actually watched him quite a long time back while he's playing for the France U12 team I think ... but frankly speaking I am not 100% sure and convince then on his ability ... and since then my mind has sticked on to Hofland and Cisse

But well .. things could change IMO ... and I trusted that many of the RedCafer here on your sight ... Well - Fergie will decide it then ... he's staying now and with his good relationship with Auxere's manager ... we just need to wait and see ;)
happy happy days ahead ... <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" />

Because Fergie stays we will be linked with every player again we have been linked with before.Im waiting for the Ayala rumours again.

I've never seen Mexes played before, but I will trust ShAoLiN's opinion on this one, because from his previous posts I think he is quite harsh and has a high standard in judging player, so if he think that guy is great then there's a great chance that he is really great :) Hope we can act quickly, because once he started to represent the national team or play more in Europe, his price can raise like a rocket very soon.

Judging a kid in an Under 12 match is a little harsh in trying to determine one's future ability I should say.

Absolutely. I will still admire his skill. That said, I seriously doubt you could afford him as he will probably cost upwards of 20m.

We're no Real Madrid but i think a lot of you underestimate our financial position, if we don't win the league expect a big spending spree in the summer

Will that require another low interest loan ? ;)

Selling half of Liverpool (i.e. the city) wouldn't get the club 20 million pounds.

France Football, a French weekly about football, gives note to the players after every game, and there's a classment. At the end of the year, the best field player and the best keeper receive a trophey. At this stage of the year, Mexes is the best player of the French championship this year (according to FF of course).

Cissé is...50th ! He has an incredible physics (last week he was at a TV show and a presentator asked him if his shoulders were real, or if he had clothes like american footballers... <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" /> ), he runs quickly but he still has to progress with his head, his left foot and his tactics. We talk much more about Cissé, everyone raves about him, but when you look at the notes, you see that's Mexes is ahead... Lemerre should try him with the French team.

Still, I would prefer to see Cissé at United than at Liverpool or Arsenal.

BTW according to a French journalist there's a "deal" between Ferguson and Guy Roux (auxerre's manager) and Mexes will come to United. Guy Roux is a friend of Fergie. I don't remember if Cissé is a part of this "deal", I've heard this information a few months ago.

I've also heard this on various sites, snd I also think there was some mention of it on Roy's list but I'm not sure if that was the same list...but well, if he is as good as everyone says, then let's hope there is..

mexes is pure class I've seen him play afew times and he is easily the best up coming CB in Europe right now. i've never been too convinced by hofland I feel given the chance Oshea or Wes Brown are just as good if not better. the Only other young CB thats worth anything is Chivu anI thik he wants to move to serie A

did Mexes not say that he would like to go to Italy, did he not say that, that was were all the best defenders played? and that was were he would want to learn his trade? I reckon if Wes was playing in the french league do u reckon he would get the "dont let the shit hit the ground, just get your toungue up there and start licking treatment" You lot gave to Mexes???

;)

Hmmm, all sounds very interesting indeed. Ain't seen either play but Mexes sounds like a class act. We need a big, world class, Stam-esque defender to build the defence around and although Mexes is young, he could be just what we need.

We shall see what happens I guess......

I can see why Cisse wont be there, as yet an unharnessed power shall we say. Besides they have plenty of top quality strikers up front.

But Mexes will be there wont he?

Mexes is not in the Stam mould at all IMO. He has what Stam has but is a more skillful type of player whereas Stam was probably built in the classic English type CB. Mexes is supposed to be like the new Blanc.

He initially said that he wanted to go to Rome and Roma in particular. But they've said they will not go for him for some reason and I doubt he'd go to Lazio.

Fergie HAS told him that he wants him and he has been here and is interested, so both parties fancy it including Guy Roux so thats everyone involved. Lets hope the moneymen fancy it too. Apparently Roux has said he will be coming here in 2003.

I totally believe we are about 3/4 players away from being the best in the world. This is one of those players.

Mexes is not as physicaly imposing as Stam, but you could certainly build a defence around him. He has enough physique, and as was said- skill more like a midfielder, plus he has the charisma to lift a big team, captain material. As Roy said, we will be sorry if we miss out on him.

Would that improve our chances of signing him? :D
