I think we need to get the both of them ASAP.
I saw enough to know that these guys are as good as people say they are. Mexes is particularly impressive since he is more of a finished article than Cisse.
You know when you see the Nevilles do abit of skill? Or maybe Ferdinand or Stam? It always looks kinda dodgy, but with Mexes he plays with the ball as if he was a midfielder, he does Veron style flicks over incoming attackers, long balls that wouldn't look out of place coming from a Beckham boot. Basically this guy is great on the ball. One criticism might be that he made a few mistakes from attempting complicated things, bit like Barthez, but nowhere near as bad. i.e. one moment where he tried to turn a striker who read him and tackled him in the box.
Defensively Mexes was incredible, he was never beaten convincingly, not in the air, not by pace, nothing. He was a brick. We need this guy cos soon his value is just gonna rocket and rocket. I dont like the look of Hofland anymore after seeing this guy. Great defensively and great on the ball. We NEED him! He had everything as far as I'm concerned.
Cisse IMO still needs to improve his game, that said he was playing up front by himself and he did impress me alot. His pace is incredible, just like a 100m sprinter only he can accelerate without the push off. His shots remind me of Hasselbaink but one aspect of his game reminds me of the Heskey of old. The one that just blasts the ball as hard as he can hoping for a goal. Cisse does try to aim for the corners etc though and I heard that he is working on his finishing, I reckon he will improve with ease.
He wasnt too good in the air, but everything else more than makes up for it. He is a good dribbler at speed and when you look at him you just know he will raise Hell in front of our midfield. Then again he'd also be deadly replacing Owen, similar attributes. I just hope we get him cos he will be absolutely deadly given time. Much more powerful and athletic than Owen. Cisse and RVN would be the best in the world in terms of sheer devastation. But how they'd work together I dont know, Cisse seems to play well with a foil similar to Teddy, I'm not sure on his team work, recieving service seems fine but in a partnership I dont know how he'd perform.
If you get a chance keep an eye out for Auxerre and witness these two class acts. I guess I'm the newest member of the Cisse/Mexes fan club. Although I have to say I'm more eager that we get Mexes sooner rather than later.
