bought fifa 08 on the day of release after loving the demo. thought it seemed slower and not as good.

played it for 2months and loved it.

bought Pes 2008 month after release. the reviews had put me off and i was expecting the worse.

played it, and thouhgt it was shocking. too quick. lag online. poor graphics.

played it for the last 4 months and now love it. game play is superb, the ablitity to score wonder goals is amazing. editing is good.

just played fifa 08 again after 4 months and am shocked at how poor it is. first touch is attrocious. graphics of players are terrible. its impossible to play short kicks from the keeper with out instantly giving the ball to the opposition.

all in all im pissed off at how terrible it is.

Try doing short kicks to one of the other fullbacks. Perhaps you should learn how to use the games first touch. *sigh* noobs complaining about a game they can not control.

no. ive had every fifa since 98 and i used to be amazing at fifa 08 when i first played it.

went for like a 20 game online winning streak.

but the first touch is appalling.

i think perhaps if i play it for 2 weeks i might get back into it.

press the direction on the left nipple and the shoulder button to chose your player (in relation to the ball) or use the right nipple and do the same and it works first go.

I've been playing PES since it was ISS Pro, and the above is exactly why this years version is shit. Wonder goals are too easy to score, and speed and physical strength are given far too much importance in the game. It is too easy to run the length of the pitch with mediocre players, and the gameplay is absurdly fast. The most annoying thing is if those things were changed (and the online game obviously), it'd be the best footy game by a country mile.

Secondly the editing is fecking atrocious, have a look at the PS2 version last year, and you'll see they've reduced the editing possibilities. Konami are rip off merchants, they've put out a half finished game that has gotten rid of the best things about the Pro Ev series namely a relatively slow realistic pace, difficulty, and longevity.
 
I completely agree. I feel like they've gone back to the first few version of Winning Eleven, where speed is everything, all you need in your team is a damn fast player and he will do everything. And you can score from like 40 yards so easy too in those versions. Every version after that has been more realistic regarding the importance of speed. But PES08 definitely go backward.
 
yeh. do have to agree. it is too easy. but how can you not find it enjoyable. its soo much more fun than fifa. the gameplay is so fecking annoyingly shit. it just winds me up. grr.

With Fifa it's not an instant thing we're you achieve satisfaction after playing it straight away or for the first time in a while. You have to consistently play it and once you do then and only then will you start to once again appreciate the beauty of the game. Be patient, but soon the "slowness" and whatever else will just seem like normality and the game will be seen as great in your eyes.

Nothing will be settled untill we play each other :P Even then you might kick my arse but at least it will be fun. Also im Australian so your expected to beat me. Just getting my excuses ready.

I played Fifa's Be A Pro mode for so long last night it probablly wasn't good for me. It's annoying when you get the occasional game that takes ages to set up because people can't seem to grasp the idea of picking a team and pressing okay, or just having general muppets on your team, but when you get a good game going with people on your team who get the basic idea of football it feels amazing. Some of the games i had in midfield were so much fun.
 
basically you play as one player in a team, instead of being able to switch players.
 
You also get the option of control all the rest of the players that aren't being controlled by anyone else. Always useful to have one person doing this so you don't have to rely on the computer controlling the rest of the team.
 
Has anyone ever managed a 'rainbow kick' on fifa 08 or is it not actually physically possible to do?

5 people per team. And as i said, a player (or all players) can control the rest of the team if they wish. You usually find at least one person selects this 'any' option when you join a match.
