So far away I get up 4am to just watch Utd on TV
...when the flicks & little touches didn't come off obviously. But (as some have already mentioned) full credit to Boro or more accurately to Steve Mac for once again putting together a magnificent game plan. Boro have quickly become a great team & possibly our "bogey" team. They could easily have snatched a point last night regardless of whether they deserved it or not. The good news is that they'll trouble all the others too!

Rio & Mikkey to my mind were our top performers on the night, quick to read danger and calm in their execution. Giggsy IMO played well too, a couple of good efforts and always causing their RB trouble.

No faulting Larry White either, while to watch Phil is always a bit scary. <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" />

I, for one, am beginning to see some sense in the 5-man midfield. Although we seemed a little tentative at times the runnning off the ball and desire to have the ball was once again immressive. Yes, we regularly came up short with the final pass but with a little luck it could've been a hatful. Welcome to football!

I thought Nicky had a poor game for him as his first touch let him down on a number of occasions but let's face it, he has to take the place of Keano as ball winner. . .no easy task!

Becks & Veron had solid games. Each sent at least a couple of long balls through that landed right on the foot of Giggs, RVN or Scholes . . . passes that on another day would have resulted in a goal or at least and exciting finish. Veron is going to split defences wide open this season and I anticipate him being MOM on many occasions.

Scholes is getting more and more comfortable in this new role AF has given him. His little flicks failed tonight but don't worry, they will work more often as the season progresses & as he & RVN (or he & Ole) become a better team you'll see plenty of goals.

In '99 we won a lot of league nmatches when we didn't execute all that well. That's what it takes! How many times did the arse do that last year . . . sneaking out a winner they didn't really deserve? Lots! That's how many.

Unlike the poo, United (as ever)tried to play attacking football always looking for the defence-splitting pass. OK, so it didn't work tonight, what's important is the effort, not to mention the result. :D

Can't wait 'till the Leeds game but I suppose we shouldn't look beyond Notlob first. they too can be tricky.

I like Becks as captain . . . a calmer head and an accomplished leader at National level. Always works hard and still has plenty of fire in his belly. Maybe this should be permanent?

Keep the faith,
