Helps Arsenal in a key position with depth. If he helps get them over the line then he is a bargain. Works well for all parties in a business sense, though because of the tribal nature of football I wouldn't want my team strengthening a local rival on their way to a title.

Not only that but there was no contract extension on the cards. Chelsea were going to let him go for free anyway. For Chelsea this is a great deal. For Arsenal it can be a good deal too. For Jorginho it’s an incredible deal, gets huge chance to win the title.

Honestly they've been making some very shrewd signings surprisingly.

Forget jorginho as a footballer. He brings experience and a veteran presence to a VERY young team in what will be a very nervy run in for them.

Can he still play the regista or deep lying play maker role in the Sarri system? We will find out soon. Xabi Alonso still played at a high level for this role over 30 year old so Jorginho may have couple years left in him if use properly. This is a short term fixed to provide cover for Partey.

Also, they’ll have spent £40m not £160m. If it gets them over the line and they still have the remaining £120m available in the summer then it will look to be great business with hindsight. Mudryk looks class though.

Sabitzer is an emergency signing because Eriksen got injured. Jorginho is an emergency signing because El Neny did his ACL and Brighton told us to do one. Both are good deals though. It's not always a negative thing.

£12m plus wages for a player available for free in the summer isn’t peanuts.. He’s also in his 30s.

That said I think he’s a good player even if he wasn’t their first choice.
