One of my brothers got some tickets for his stand-up tour next year (the Lowry date, I think) and I was wondering whether it would be worth it.

Apparently his stand-up hasn't been too well received recently - he trialled the tour over in Canada this year and the critics all thought it was pretty awful.

Anyone been lucky/unlucky enough to see any of it?

I think he is a bit short of cash at the moment and is doing everything possible to raise funds. I think his stand-up is prebably reflective of this, so I wouldn't have high expectations for it at all.

Regardless of your thoughts, if you sell the tickets let me know!

I forgot about this thread. Instantly forgettable, like his stand-up.

Actually, that's a bit harsh. It was like spending a few hours with one of your witty uncles. But it cost lots of money.

Man's a bloody legend... Not huge in terms of stand-up, but the show I attended was worth it just to hear the man recollect the start to his and the Pythons' careers. Generally damned funny, it's just that anything like a stand-up with punch-lines format doesn't necessarily suit him.

Amazing that he should be short up though, just shows what a short shrift writers get outside of the music industry. If he'd written a song as popular as the parrot sketch he'd never need to work again.

That and he's also been taken for 3 divorces and now has some youngling on the leash probably raping his wallet.

The other lot don't seem to be so starved for cash unless I'm mistaken.

Well Idle did write songs, Palin does his travel docs, Gilliam's got his films, Chapman's dead and Jones, well I've no idea what he does, but he directed all the films so might get a cut of that.

That said Cleese must have had an exec producer credit on Faulty Towers, or be getting something from all the constant repeats it generates.

He didn't need to tour though, in my opinion.

If Cleese had just had a whip round, I'd happily have subbed him a fiver.
