Newcastle United hoping to lure QPR striker Loïc Rémy to St James' Park after Darren Bent deal collapses

Bent and his agent are understood to have been far from impressed following a meeting with Newcastle’s Director of Football Joe Kinnear, who suggested he would only offer Aston Villa £2m for the England international.

£2m? He may well be out of favour yet equally is proven in the league and has years yet remaining on his contract.

Any guesses as to the Remy bid? Wages could be a problem again if he has grown attached to those at QPR.

After Redknapp said “I don’t think he will go on loan. I can’t see any sense in it. I don’t know why we’d pay £8m and then loan him out." ....

Newcastle have agreed a season-long loan deal with Championship side Queens Park Rangers for striker Loic Remy and is set to have a medical at St James' Park today.

 FFS 'Arry

Get him off the wage bill, he's on 70k a week. They're already paying more in wages than total income, although they've bought some fairly big earners and still have a lot to get rid of if they want to be financially sensible.

What happened to that rape case he got arrested for anyway?

I bet 'Arry just couldn't resist a chance to "do a deal", whether it meant bringing someone in or loaning someone out.

Hilarious that they can't offload their high earning shite players and have them warming the bench while Andy Johnson plays.

Bailed until September. Could be a short season at Newcastle ;)

Speaking of Rape I saw that West Ham were considering signing a Belgian international but he had been jailed for rape a few years ago. They asked their fans what they thought of it and most were against it so they wouldn't consider buying him. Fair play.

Not sure the club asked their fans in any meaningful way....wasn't it the chairman's son asking the question on Twitter? Also it could be argued the player served his punishment for his horrible crime and has obviously turned his life round as it happened 10 years ago.

Will be strange for Newcastle to have Cisse, Remy and potentially Gomis as well. Remy on the wing maybe?

I think Cisse will leave, besides having 3 forwards for 2 spots won't really harm them.

Well he seems to have reached some sort of agreement with Newcastle to wear the shirt. It doesn't look like he's still protesting the wonga business.

And I agree - but I don't think Remy or Gomis have come to sit on the bench.
