I'm surprised no one has suggested United pursue JFH. He has proven his ability in the PL on two occaisions with Chelsea and Leeds. He knows the PL and the other teams in it. Can you Imagine what a pairing he and RVN would make? PL defenses would be trembling. 70 goals plus! AND with United's midfield providing the ammo it would be good to see...We would not have to worry about defense the ball would always be in the opposition net!!! I doubt he would cost as much as any other top shelf European striker.
United strike force: RVN, OGS, JFH & DF. WOrld class. NO Doubt.

A good striker and I don't doubt he would do well but I get the feeling his ego is just a bit too large for OT. I don't know why, possibly the way he dumped on Leeds (and you can never knock someone for that) but I just get the impression that he could be a disruptive influence and at 30 is probably a bit too old to take a risk on, a good young striker would be better suited to our needs at this stage as I don't see anyone displacing Ruud & Ole just yet.

JFH is incredibly consistent in scoring goals and i wouldnt mind if he becomes a United player

Good points Bury red
I agree young talent is always worth a go.
Did you have anyone in mind?
As I'm in Austrtalia we don't see the lower divisions so I'm not familiar with who the young up and coming strikers might be.
Can you enlighten me???

Being Hong Kong based myself, I probably see as little lower division footie as you so am a bit out of touch about the available/worthwhile candidates. The names which often spring up are Dean Ashton and Bobby Zamorra who could possibly be tempted by a few games at OT and the chance to mature on the "big stage" whilst I am sure that Jermaine Defoe would be a great addition although doubt that West Ham would part with him just yet.

The alternative is to look for a youngster abroad and ther are a number about although the prices can again be silly a la Cisse, whilst Liverpool have done a good job of mopping up 3 of the potentially better forwards in Baros, Le Talec and Pongolle although Ibrahimovic and the young Egyptian kid at Ajax are both worth a look.

We may even have a suitable candidate in our own ranks in Fletcher, Davis, Webber or Timms and I would love them to get their chance at some stage although lack of big match experience may come into play and they could all do well spending a while on loan to gain a competeitve edge.

JFH was insisting that he had to be the highest paid player at all times for Leeds...irregardless of who they signed in the future while JFH was there.

Leeds might be having financial difficulties now but it would have been worse to have caved in the JFH's salary demands and then have to pay all other squad members accordingly.

Apparently he was extremely disruptive to the team as well and was not liked by the squad.

Pity......still hurts to see him banging in the goals.

I have suggested that utd buy him...he'd be great and he plays with his heart at all times even if he tends to be ratehr egotistic. He is unhappy at Chelsea cos there is a lack of silverware...besides, he is CL material not just UEFA cup.. I say utd should launch a bid to get him..he'd be brilliant wiht RUUD. The only problem is his arrogance and fairly bad discipline, which is why SAF will never try to buy him, apart from the fact that he is 29..apart from that he is a great player...very skilled, aggressive and great finishing ability.

HHHMMMM the dutch connection (RVN & JFH), but in reality i dont think so, it will either be paulo di canio or someone young like cisse coming to o/t.

Ibrahimovic has an attitude problem. He wouldn't be good enough for United....

So Buryred who do Ashton & Zamora play for?
where can I get more info on these two???

Bobby Zamora plays in Division 2 for Brighton at the mo and is a useful striker, certainly in the lower divisions, with 60 goals in his 90 league appearances so far (not bad for a 21 year old).

Dean Ashton is younger and plays for Crewe in Division 1 but has still notched 17 in 50 appearances in league and cup.

Zamora is a natural predator whereas Ashton is a more rounded (and more gifted) combative forward who should develop further, both are very highly rated although the larger step up may be trickire for Zamora than Ashton. To find out more you could try Brighton or Crewe's home pages as I'm sure they will have plenty on the pair of them.
