Spurs would want too much for him. Plus if we do sign a striker, it needs to be someone capable of playing as the sole forward, whereas Defoe is like Rooney and Smith in that he plays behind the striker.

Defoe doesnt play off the striker, hes more owen then rooney, stright up goalscorer.
How about some current United youth prospects like Johnson, Cooper, Ebanks-Blake, etc....Which are Ruud-style striker and who is most likely to make the grade with United?
I know Cooper is a tall striker but I doubt he'll make the grade with United.

Last season's goals scored tally was the absolute pits and the fact that we simply couldn't score left us drawing a lot of games that 2 or 3 seasons ago we would have won by at least 2 goals. God knows how many Premiership points it cost us, and hey, let's not mention the cup final, shall we?

No surprise. He could have easily had another couple years in the Premier League so I expect him to bang them in over in that pub league.
Especially at Toronto. For the MLS they look absolutely stacked. Orr/Caldwell are championship level defenders. Michael Bradley will dominate in midfield, as will Julio Cesar in goal. Could see Defoe scoring 30+.
