Jefferson Farfan

Wingers/Strikers are the least important positions in the team to improve imo.

Well he could probably play in the center as well, i've seen him a few times, he likes to roam around a lot...having said that, its not like we have an enormous amount of wingers anyway. Ok, there's Nani, Giggs, 38 next season would probably be coming off the bench for the most part....Valencia, we all hope comes back stronger next season, but what if he doesnt? (God forbid!)... Farfan would fit right in no matter the role

Wingers are actually part of the problem with our central midfielders. We basically only have 1 winger at present who is creating problems out wide. Giggs is being used more centrally and rarely gives us attacking options out wide anymore. Part of the problem that so many are missing with our central midfield is that without a decent threat from our wide players which is our natural game our central midfield arent having more options created in front of them. Everyone is simply blaming the central midfielders and while they are part of the problem its not simply just cm thats at fault. Its an holistic approach needed for the problem. We need more quality width and relying on just Nani will make it harder to fix the cm issues.

I like this guy. He's 26. quick, great technique, good composure on the ball, superb delivery, dead-ball specialist (God! we need one)...

He's been immense for schalke this season.

I think we should move for him in the summer, he'd be a good signing!

No he won't.

He's absolutely not for us, but he was good and Schalke's best player over the two legs with Valencia. Good pace and was constantly putting quality into the box. Not so sure about the technique but he doesnt lack it either.

Never really lived up to his early hype, I remember when him and Johan Vonlanthen where playing together at PSV they where both set to be the next best things.

I remember reading a World Soccer blurb calling him the Peruvian Wayne Rooney. Didn't he start as a ST at Alianza Lima?

Yupp, and we absolutely dont need any of that right now.

Not on the right wing where we have both Nani and Valencia who are better than him at it. Obviously.

He does beat Obertan and Bebe though, so if he wants to turn out for the reserves fair enough

He's been brilliant the few times I've watched Schalke the past two seasons.
I don't really see the Park comparison though, he reminds me much more of Valencia, seeing as he's got terrific pace and great body strength.

If you're talking about right now then yes we do. Badly. Nani/Park/Valencia all injured. We have a broken wing and without such we cannot fly.

Where was this thread prior to last night?

Capable of playing for a top 4 club in England if you ask me.

Well yes and no. The top 4 teams that play wingers, have better wingers. Those that dont use wingers, like Chelsea, wouldnt revert to playing wingers to accomodate him. But if they did use wingers, he'd arguably be a step up from Kalou on the right

Revised opinion after tonight. In the first 45 minutes he was just passing the ball around neatly and not doing much while his team had already scored 2.

In the second half he showed his pace and delivery into the box which are both very good, but he continued to pass the ball around very well wandering in from the wing. Showed a lot more ability with that linkup side of the game than I had given him credit for having seen him a couple of other times this season.

I still dont think we should be signing him as the OP suggested, but I do think he's as good as Valencia. Maybe better.

There's only 1 player the muppet in me would have from Schalke - Neuer!

Farfan has been very good the few times I've seen him but if we were going in for a winger/attacking player I'd rather we sign 2-3 quality players who will improve our first XI & not just our squad and IMO, he's not better than what we have on the wings. (gk and midfield still a priority for me).
