I'd never heard of him before the Trump thing. I keep reading that he's intelligent despite all evidence to the contrary. What's the deal with this buffoon?

My only gripe against him is he subscribes to the worst philosophical doctrine of all time. The idea of techno-states (thousands of them) across the world and the abolition of the nation state. He's influenced by idiots. Their own ideology is not even their own it's just ancient shit repackaged with a fecking computer.

He used to be a "Never Trumper", but then he realized where things were headed and decided to get on board the Trump train for power - and now he's one heartbeat away from being the most powerful person in the world.

“I can’t stomach Trump,” Vance said in an interview with NPR, when describing why he would vote for a third-party candidate. “I think that he’s noxious and is leading the white working class to a very dark place.”

He even considered voting for Hillary Clinton over Trump: “I think there’s a chance, if I feel like Trump has a really good chance of winning, that I might have to hold my nose and vote for Hillary Clinton.”

He's a petty little man with a big chip on his shoulder and small dick syndrome. Which feels like I'm describing nearly every bloke in the MAGA movement.

Ive been reading a little bit about Yarvin and... Yeah... Trump is a petty asshole that's visiting his personal grievances and exploitation of the vulnerable on the world; so just being his usual self. But Vance is the tip of the spear for the Thiel-led techbro authoritarianism, which Trump's bullshit is going to clear the space for.

Thiel-led techbro authoritarianism
This frame is the one I use when you see that Gaza shite. They're looking for areas to implement this shite. They have a few small-scale areas bought up already, allegedly one in Lebanon (under joint Israeli-US control).

The most bankrupt ideology of all time.

Peak masculinity. This is the guy that berates war heroes.

conservatives think all conservative's are intelligent, even people like Ben Shapiro

I suppose he was picked to be VP because of what he's willing to do (anything his masters want), not because of his capabilities

This makes me realize that I have never actually listened to Ben Shapiro outside of short clips that I can't even remember properly.

He's a young, clout chasing charlatan who was previously very anti-Trump during the first Trump administration. At that time, he was known more for a book he wrote about his life, which was later adapted into a film directed by Ron Howard.

Around that time, he began to dabble in both tech entrepreneurship and political commentary which resulted in Peter Thiel contributing millions to get him to run for Senate in Ohio as a stridently pro-Trump candidate. He was only in the Senate for a couple of years before the Thiel cabal, with the help of Don Jr. and Eric Trump, promoted him as a good choice as Trump's VP.

Unfortunately for JD, his past comments about Trump continue to receive maximum daily play on Twitter.

Where does the idea that he's clever come from?

Articulate and went to Yale Law school.

He is highly intelligent, but he is an opportunistic snake that will mould his views in order to progress his own career.

It wasnt long ago that he was calling Trump "Americas Hitler" yet could see the way the GOP was going so jumped onboard as he knew it was his ride to power.

The definition of a Political Weathervane.

There is no room in the GOP for being a "never Trump guy", so he bent the knee.

Its a calculation that many in the GOP have made. Vance's college classmate Vivek Ramaswamy also attempted to ride the Trump train during his failed Presidential run last year, and will continue to do so as he runs for Governor of Ohio next year.

The likes of Rubio, Lindsey Graham, and Ted Cruz are also having to kneel before Zod for fear Trump may support a primary opponent during the next elections.

This just goes to show that remaining in power is more important to a vast majority of politicians than anything else.

We have not seen the equivalent in Democratic politics, but i can't imagine that a Democrat President or candidate would ever come in and the party would do a 180 on many of their established core beliefs.

We have Lindsey Graham, one of the staunchest Russia hawks, now parroting Kremlin talking points. The grip that Trump has over the party, which stems from his base, his megaphone and his willingness to call out publicly any desentors, really is something that we have never seen before.

The Republicans who fought Trump are now all unemployed or working as pundits, which is a lesson existing Republicans have taken into consideration before daring criticize him. It didn't work out particularly well for the likes of Cheney, Kinzinger, Amash, Paul Ryan, Pompeo et al.

he became famous because of his book hillbilly something. he was touted by liberals as a decent guy who knew more about real americana back when trump got elected the first time.

Say about him what you will. But his eyes are beautiful.

Oh, yeah, about how he comes from this loser area and made it out successfully. From what I understand, people from his region don't appreciate him much for that book.

He was also involved in a start-up to create jobs in greenhouses in that region, of something like that. But it was ill considered (terrible work conditions I think?) and ended soon after.

In short, just bluffing his way through life.

as far as i know, the start-up was a peter thiel venture, that's how he ended up in that circle.
he made his money by trashing white appalachians as lazy moochers and addicts dependent on the government, and trump as pandering to them. once his boss thiel became an open trump supporter, vance became a maga republican and won a senate seat as one, saving the forgotten white working class from the contempt of the democrats.
