Always rated him myself and wondering why Spurs are having a free run at him for £40m. Why are Utd not looking into players like this?

Could see him thriving at a big club and surely he should be aiming for Champions League rather than Spurs.

Am I missing something about him?

Yes, he's a massive bellend in real life by quite a few accounts, which even stems from his time at Coventry.

Will probably fit in well with their new manager who will look to play attacking football.

Not really a grafter and his production/talent doesn't outweigh that negative.

Good player but plays Bruno's position, not really the player I think we need.

I have the same reservations about Mount to be fair, but I think he's a bit more versatile and hard-working.

Yeah, fair one I’d take Bruno over Maddison but need some competition and a good squad. He just seems a bit cheap to me with the current prices being shelled out.

Bit of a vanity signing. Went missing when he was needed the most last season despite being integral for a long time before that. Also frequently on the treatment table.

£40m is a steal. With Maddison available at that price, I’m not sure why we’re ready to pay significantly more for Mount, who Maddison has played better than in recent years in similar positions.

I saw one of the video which explained why Mount is so different from Maddison, one of the reason was off the ball. Maddison is in play only when he has the ball at his feet, whereas Mount is in play all the time, with or without the ball.

I rate him highly but with Bruno playing for us, Maddison wouldn't have been a good signing.

I dunno, Maddison has successfully played deeper at “8” at times, as has Bruno last season.

Mediocre player joins a mediocre team
19 goals/assists last season in a terrible Leicester team - 20 in the season before that and 15 the season before that. Not sure what your definition of medicre is but I'd say most people would not agree.

I'll be very happy if we sign Maddison, especially if it's for 40million as I think thats very good value. Looks like we are changing formation under Ange and back to having an attacking midfielder which is great news.

anyone whose been to coventry knows you have to be tough to make it on the streets. my homie, charles, from leamington spa, almost had a term in state school when his father’s company went tits up.

He is a proper bellend and not that good anyway
To be fair, he has become much more professional and mature in the past couple of years and if you watch his more recent interviews he actually comes across very well. He definitely was a total prat when he was younger though.

Yeah, surprised by the lack of fight for this guys signature. One of the better attacking mids in the league imo.

Plays left wing, number 10 and right wing wing all at the same high level. He is a good player. I would be very happy if we got him.

Bruno got a total of 16 g/a last season, in about 900 more minutes played as well, in a stronger team.
The benchmark in this category is obviously KdB (only taking attacking mids in consideration)who reached 23 g/a, in a team that scores for fun most games.

Maddisons 19g/a for an abysmal Leicester side is very impressive in comparison.

Easy to see why there is lack of fight, ManUtd, City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool don't need him. They all have better 10s and most don't even play with 10.

Lack of fight is what he showed Leicester in the run up to their relegation.
He did?
Only watched Leicester a handful of times towards the end but never felt he downed tools tbh.
Maybe you followed Leicester more up close than i did.

Yeah I think we have hit lucky in that as you say not many of the better teams in the league have a need for his type of player right now. Newcastle were interested I think but have spent big on Tonali instead. So we basically got a free run on a player we need.

We seem pretty desperate to get Mason Mount in. My feeling is that Maddison could offer something similar, at a lower cost as well.

I think attributes wise, Mount is probably more suited to playing the no.8 role than Maddison. In a more traditional no.10 role I prefer Maddison as a player though.

Gifted but a bit of a luxury player. Can see why no top team were in for him and he’s now going to Spurs.

I don't know about him or Mount playing deeper. Both of them and Bruno are at their best closer to the final third.

Maddison is a very good player though and I don't think his workrate is really that awful, his defensive stats don't look bad.

They are pretty different? Undoubtedly one of the reasons we want Mount is because of his work off the ball. You aren't getting that from Maddison. There's definitely a reason United, Liverpool, and Arsenal were interested in Mount but not Maddison.

19 g/a last season says otherwise.

I been to a lot of Leicester games second half of season because my boss is a Leicester fan. Kept an eye on him and he seemed like having the time of his life smiling and high fiving as his team were down 2-0.

Maybe I'm biased because if they stayed up, would have got a free day off

Ah, actually going to games tells you more about some players i guess! Definitely doesn´t look good if he was doing that

On the ball yes, off the ball I'm not sure.

Shame I'm not able to find that video, watched one few weeks ago. It made sense, how Mount is so different from Maddison and why managers like Mount.
