Seems to be having a very good season at Celtic by all acounts so far, and I know there were stories a week or so ago about 'Arry sniffing around.

I think he looks a tidy player but what does the caf' say? Is the SPL his level or could he make an impact in the Premiership?

well he looks better than anything else Celtic have and apparently King Transfer Muppet Arry Redknapp has had scouts watching him.

I would say Hooper is their best play by quite a distance. Forrest looks decent, but some games he can end up just contantly running into opposition hoping to just force through them with his pace. He's good for Celtic, but I doubt he would be able to make an impact in the PL.

Plus he looks about 14.

haha! i have been following this guys career because he has the same name as me! From what i've read he has been playing pretty well. Plays particularly well in Europa league games it seems...

Bump, as promised.

I thought he was the best player on the pitch last night. He looked dangerous coming in on his right foot and he beat his man more often than not. That said I think his crossing is hit and miss at times. Pretty much all of Celtic's play went down his wing, although that's only partly due to Forrest's effectiveness given that Scott Brown seems to have a very unorthodox view of where a right midfielder is supposed to play.

Anyway, I really do think he would be a wise purchase for some PL team. Too good for Celtic and the SPL imo.

I watch James Forrest often. He's a good young player but would be nowhere near ready for the likes of United just now or perhaps ever.

Has only played as a regular at Celtic for about 4 months. Not yet showed enough to really justify a big move.

he has talent though. He actually looks like a footballer, his touch and link up is good then he has that wee bit extra to get past a man. At the moment he's a prospect but he's been one of Celtics standouts.

Best to come out the celtic youth academy since McGeady apparently. And love or hate McGeady i reckon he'd do well in the prem.

I thought he was quite wasteful last night, especially given that he was up against that carthorse Broadfoot. It's early days really - he's shown less than some others like Sean Maloney or Chris Burke - neither of whom really pushed on and built on their early promise. The basics - touch, trickiness, pace - are there though.

the fact he's a scotland player and not an ireland player makes me think he might not be all that....

He's a very good winger for Celtic, but I still think he has a long way to go if he can even be thought of as a potential first team winger for Man United. He's able to exploit players with his trickery and pace at SPL level, but he will really need to develop his game if he hopes to do the same in the Premier League.

The question is, does he need to move to make that happen or can he reach his potential with Celtic playing in the SPL?

I think there is a lot of improving to be done while he is still at Celtic. Of course, when he moves to this league, that development will continue, however I couldn't see him delivering at all if he moved right now, which would hamper his game, if anything.

Yeah I think that's fair. He would be decent imo if he went to a PL club tomorrow but it's hard to argue against him staying at Celtic for a while yet being best for his development in the long run.
