I could catch a monkey
he's the top scorer (I think) in the premiership....scored many fine goals this season....playing for a small club....and we need a striker. I'm not so sure that he'd fit in with Ruud up front, but maybe we're not looking for someone that will, as we can play Scholes off him. Maybe he could be someone that could come in and give Ruud some well deserved rest...point being, the striker we buy doesn't neccessarily have to be a foil for Ruud.

But, he never seems to be linked with United ??? I don't know if he's good enough....but I can't figure out why there's never any speculation about it or people on here suggesting it...???

Exactly

well remember southampton are in europe next season (fa cup)due to the finalists being arse so I would imagine strachen wants to strengthen rather than sell players

furthermore I would prefer a striker who can interchange with scholes and giggs when needed, and I dont see beatie as the man to fill that roll

I also think he would cost a lot of money (like phillips when he had his realy good season) and with the prices of players so low you could get robinio, or adriano (for example) for far less money who would represent a better long term prospect... remember beatie is having his best season by a long way and it could be a "flash in the pan" so to speak

He may just be another Phillips, who know? And Sven Errikson also doesn't think he is good enough for England, so why would he be good enough for us?

He's good but he is to much like ruud. We need a player like defoe
