According to <a href="http://www.planetfootball.com/article.asp?id=112714&clid=1&cpid=8&title=Stam+wants+out+of+Lazio" target="_blank">this article.</a>. Apparently they still haven't paid us either.

Not saying that it's even a remote possibility, but Stam/Ferdinand would be amazing imo.

O'Shea/Ferdinand is amazing imo. :D

dont look backwards. Stam was an ageing CB who Fergie considered was no longer good enough.
Look forwards, O'Shea/Ferdinand can take us to better defensive heights than Stam ever could.

bollocks. he was arguably the best centre-back in europe and a one-man defence.

if you hadn't had him you certainly wouldn't have won the treble in '99 you clown. . .

He wasn't saying that, we all agree on that, but he wasn't sold in '99. And on present form, and potential, we've every right to feel happier about having O'Shea than Stam right now.

 i wasnt talking about 99 muppet.
we can all agree Stam in that season was like a man possessed, a brick wall for attackers to run into. However, in the few months preceeding before Fergie sold him, Stam showed a serious lack of concentration, lack of pace & seemed to be carrying injuries. We've all gone into that 'why?' topic before so ill not go into that.
What i AM saying is that we have Rio whos considered to be one of the best young CB's in the world, and John O'Shea who has shown he has much potential to be up there with the best of them. In fact, i believe that O'Shea long-term will be a better 'defender' than Ferdinand.

So Sir Alex, having got rid of Jaap amid great controversy and for reasons that he has never openly talked about, should now welcome Jaap back and disrupt the gelling defence? Please let me know what planet such thinkers are living on because it certainly isn`t this one.

As for michaelowens mum - you`d best be engaging in some serious discussion on Koptalk as to why Liverpool have been such has-beens for more than a decade now, with the exception of a flukey 3 cup (one of which was hardly the stuff of which glory is made) season.

If Liverpool were the marvellous team you keep telling us and Manchester United were shite then you would not waste time and money cruising this forum trying to convince yourself you and other Liverpol fans are not seethingly jealous of our unique club.

I don't reckon stam would be good enough to get into our defence at the moment.
Let him stay at Lazio.

Ageing? Then what about Blanc? Please have some consistency here.

Itchy bollox, the difference is that Stam was playing like an old man...whereas Blanc is an old man but has never really been caught out because of it yet. Blanc has played some beautiful football since hes been here, whilst after 99 Stam (for whatever reason) wasnt giving us his all.

Better get Lazio to sell him so we they can pay in full or else get one of them high rated players to come to Man Utd! :p

id love him to come back to england jus so we can give him a great reception when he comes back to old trafford.

no stam back then = probably no treble <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" />

Feeling optimistic then.
Stam isn't good enough. He would be 4th choice behind Rio, John O'Shea and Larry.
