Why do teams perform worse or better away from home than they do at home?. I never understood it, is it because theres less of there own fans away from home, or the surroundings, or the travel or what?
What do you think it is that makes a teams perfomances better at home than it is away, or vice versa.

It is hard to understand, and I sometimes wonder if its just a statistical fluke. I could understand it better if there was something common to to the games, like away tactics different to home tactics. But I've not seen any clear pattern to our worse away form.

There's a few factors IMO.

Travelling isn't very fun and it does take some powers.

Referees tend to favour the home team.

Familarity is a good thing.

The phsycholgical effcet, knowing that home teams performs better.

Most home teams tend to go for the jugular.. away teams are more tentative...

*Disclaimer: The above statement does not apply to the team from Anfield.

:D

I think there is no logical reason at all for it

You lose away and everyone says "oh, it was an away game"

You win away and they say " Magic performance away from home"

Makes no sense
