Reading guardian piece on Sir Jim and his woes with Ineos, they mentioned this nugget at the start..

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the billionaire chemicals magnate behind Manchester United, is a man who likes a beer. He considers this important enough to include in the eccentric mission statement pictogram he devised to “capture how Ineos works, and why”.

The Ineos Compass, which he devised in 2022, includes a dizzying array of words and phrases, divided between those that Ratcliffe likes (“a beer”, “out of the box thinking”, “doggedness”) and those that he doesn’t (“politics”, “losing money”, “people who get on the bus”). If there are clues to Ratcliffe’s vertiginous rise and recent troubles they might be here.

There you have it, Sir Jims absolute distate for buses is why he is unable to achieve sporting success. Its a deep subconscious fear of the trophy parades.

Looking around the rest of it and at some of the other favourite words/phrases of INEOS, are you sure this wasn't just 'banter'?

Out of touch boomer billionaire doesn't like people who take public transportation?

He's successfully making The Glazers more palatable, they robbed the club but at least did it quietly. Jim could learn a thing or two about optics from them.

I kind of assumed the bus thing was a figure of speech. Not that that makes it much less confusing, since it then would refer to someone who's on-board, "with the program". Which you'd think he'd not see as a generally detestable quality, since this is what he expects from everyone who works for him. Maybe he means that he doesn't like to be that kind of person himself.

I bet he even likes Thatcher.

Anyway, Ineos were definitely the quieter bid. Qatar foolishly announced a tranche of consent money to gentrify Trafford and the like, whereas Ineos comparatively kept their counsel.

Smart move.

Anyway, the Glazers have and always will have terrible optics. They're universally despised (save for mischievous banter imbeciles) with their management seen as how not to run a club, especially a bigger club like ours.

Which means Ratcliffe will probably hire Avram as a PR guru.
