Miller confirms Robin Hood role

Actress Sienna Miller has confirmed she will play the role of Maid Marian in a film remake of Robin Hood.

The 26-year-old will star alongside Russell Crowe, who is expected to play the Sheriff of Nottingham.

Oscar-winning writer Brian Helgeland and director Sir Ridley Scott have also signed up for the project.

Speaking to the BBC's Colin Paterson, Miller said: "It's happening. I just found out. It's the most exciting news in the world."

She added: "It's ridiculous. But there's this looming actor's strike, so it's not 100% sure that it's going to be made, but it's looking pretty certain."

Miller, who is currently promoting her new film The Edge of Love, said she "could not have a better part" and working with Crowe and Ridley was "as good as it gets".

The movie is a twist on the classic story, with the Sheriff of Nottingham cast as a sympathetic figure up against a not-so-heroic Robin Hood.

Helgeland won an Oscar in 1997 for LA Confidential, which he co-wrote with Curtis Hanson.

The movie will also reunite Crowe and Ridley, who worked together on the 2000 movie Gladiator.

Crowe went on to win the best actor Oscar for his role as Maximus.
 
i have little doubt that this film will be the greatest robin hood film of all time, far eclipsing previous poor attempts such as Robin of Sherwood and Prince of Thieves.
 
I will boycott this film, on account that it won't be fit to tie Costners magnificent Robin Hood bootlaces. I'll watch it though, just so I can scorn it for being as bad as it most certainly will be
 
How can you watch it, and boycott it at the same time? Even if you don't pay to see it at the cinema, and wait for it on the tv, some of your licence fee will go towards buying the rights to show the movie. And if you get it on pirate, then you're depriving the movie industry that pays Kevin's wages of invaluable funds. In a way, you're pissing all over Costner's legacy. Have you no respect, Brad?
 
I actually love Sienna Miller, she is beautiful. Can't believe the thing she is (was?) going out with.

Factually, 100% correct. I don't think it's an overstatement to say that you are the reason Kevin's many children will be eating generic brand food, and wearing plastic bags as clothes. In fact, I would go as far as to say you've almost guaranteed that they will end up in the gutter, penniless and addicted to crack. Why do you hate Costner so much, Brad?

How the hell did he cheat? It was entirely fair contest, if John Little lets his guard down, more fool him

He shouldn't have been liable to a tax for crossing in the first place, he was as pennyless as the outlaws. As Gordon Brown has clearly depicted with his 10p tax debacle, little has changed in the inherent unfairness and mis-management of it all

Costner couldn't beat Little John in a straight up, fair fight and he knew it. So instead he resorted to trickery and deceit, which is no less than you would expect from Kevin Costner.

He probably didn't do all those brilliant golf shots in Tin Cup and all. And then told the cast and crew he'd fire them if it ever got out that he plays golf like a fanny. That's what I bet happened.

The only thing worses than Prince Of Thieves as a whole was a) Costner's hilarious non-attempts to cover up his accent, b) his "acting" and c) the fecking theme tune that was at number one for a suicide inducing 16 weeks.

It must rank as one of the lowest points in the history of film making.
