From TribalFootball (who else):
According to Spanish reports, Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has told the club's representatives to step up talks on bringing Real Madrid's Luis Figo to Old Trafford.
AS reports that a swap deal is being considered involving United's Ruud van Nistelrooy.
However, that may be wide of the mark as Ferguson is targeting Figo as an attacking partner to Van Nistelrooy and wants the Portuguese ace to play the role he had earmarked for West Ham's Paolo Di Canio.

We're also linked to Rio Ferdinand for £25m in This is London (who don't normally go in for silly speculation - but this is the silly season I suppose).
