Israel - Palestine Discussion

A very different tone on BBC News this morning, quite a critical tone on the Beirut attack and they've got "Outrage at Israel's killing of medics" as a headline. An actual direct attribution for once.

Handcuffed and summary executed, nothing is beneath the moral scum.

Hezbollah doesn’t have any fighter jets. Yet the Israelis bomb the shit out of Lebanon and Gaza continuously.

Israel hasns't been bombing the shit out of Lebanon continuously.

Mind you, if rockets are fired from Lebanon toward Israel, what do you expect Israel to do? Say that Lebanon don't have fighter jets so we won't use our own in order to make it a fair fight?

Netanyahu appoints a new head to the Israeli Security Agency.

His base is angry because it turns out the guy - former commander of the navy - participated in the protests against the judicial reforms. He also criticised Trump's climate policy.

Within 24 hours, Netanyahu cancels the appointment.

It's a circus. And Gaza's just a pawn.

Oh please. Israel has violated the ceasefires in both Lebanon and Gaza continuously since the moment they were implemented.

The question you ask could easily be flipped on to Israel. If you are being bombed by fighter jets and drones ever since the ceasefire came in to effect, how can you not expect a response?

While I tend to think that violations of the ceasefire in Gaza were mostly from Israel, when it comes to Lebanon, both sides were guilty of it.

Never mind that their fighter jets bomb entire residential buildings and then kill anyone who comes after to help those who might've survived.

There's not one justified fight Israel is involved in, and definitely not one while they're committing genocide. Any discussion with the IOF apologists crowd about those acts is entirely pointless. I learned that repeatedly over the last year and a half.

In other news, bakeries were forced to close today in Gaza due to a lack of flour and diesel.

A month-long blockade with no food, water and fuel entering Gaza. This alone makes it a open-and-shut case of genocide for any cnut who still refuses to see it this way.

The family believes Walid contracted amoebic dysentery from the poor conditions in the prison, an infection that causes diarrhea, vomiting and dizziness — and can be fatal if left untreated.

I had a dream today about some Palestinian civilians being killed by Israelis. This shit is negatively affecting my mental health.
Like you it gives me stress and what causes me depression is that children being brutally murdered and we cannot do anything about it.

If I must die,

you must live

to tell my story

to sell my things

to buy a piece of cloth

and some strings,

(make it white with a long tail)

so that a child, somewhere in Gaza

while looking heaven in the eye

awaiting his dad who left in a blaze–

and bid no one farewell

not even to his flesh

not even to himself–

sees the kite, my kite you made, flying up above

and thinks for a moment an angel is there

bringing back love

If I must die

let it bring hope

let it be a tale

It’s collective guilt and it’s absolutely fecking disgusting. They’re knowingly carrying out genocide.

Whenever I see this thread bumped I wonder "christ, what have we done now".

I'm quite stunned that the world isn't stopping this madness.

No one is talking about it here in the United States. The media doesn’t care, or afraid of covering it, or busy with with Trump’s trade wars or whatever.

Even here, the mess caused by Netanyahu in Israel - as he attemps to imitate Trump and gain full control - takes a large part of the headlines.

And it's not as if there was much coverage of the carnage we're causing in Gaza in the first place.

It’s a shame, because there are probably a lot of people who consider you to be a self-hating Jew because you’re not fullthroatedly supporting the genocide of Palestinians and the actions of this firmly far-right government. Which is disgusting. And yeah, Israeli media paradoxically covers Israeli war crimes more honestly than western media.

My thoughts exactly. Heart sinks every time this Th read is bumped. Hence why I don’t open Instagram feed any more. Just too hard to watch

Oh yes, you should (well, you really shouldn't!) see the "compliments" I'm getting here from people.

Luckily I work for Haaretz so at least I'm exempt from it there.

I can’t even imagine how to be given such a vicious label.

The war in Gaza was a revealing moment. I will never look at politics or media again as I did before 2023. Left-wing politicians and media personalities who talked to us for years about human rights simply disappeared.

This is so true.

Actual left wing politicians in the US, such as Bernie and AOC, have been pretty consistent in their anti-war rhetoric throughout the war, as have most progressives in the US. Its the establishment centrist Dems who have been tacitly more on the Israelis side.

Video footage appears to contradict Israeli account of Gaza medic killings

The video was recovered from the phone of one of the medics who was killed and later discovered in a mass grave.

In the video, the medical worker can be heard saying that Israeli forces are riddling their vehicles with bullets. He then asks his mother for forgiveness, saying:“Mum, forgive me. This is the path I chose - I wanted to help people. Forgive me, Mum. I swear, I only took this path to help people.”He was one of 15 emergency responders killed by Israeli forces on 23 March.

The footage shows clearly marked ambulances and fire trucks with flashing emergency lights — directly contradicting Israeli military claims that the vehicles were “suspicious” or unmarked.

The new evidence challenges the Israeli army’s account of the incident, which claimed that the emergency vehicles “were identified advancing suspiciously toward [Israeli] troops without headlights or emergency signals”.

A warning that this is distressing footage. Amazing that this is all happening with complete western backing.

I went to buy food from a little restaurant last night and the shop owner told me they're from Palestine. I tried to tell him how sorry I am and started crying like a baby. I said to him I fight almost every day with people over what's happening in your country and he said my people have been fighting all their lives and I just lost it.

People call you out when you defend israel's actions, which seems pretty fair to me.
