I did see someone on the forum today describe the genocide as a “policy disagreement”. The Dem partisans still going strong.

I guess at end of the day comedians even the ones that still behind desks in suits are just clowns. When they have to talk about serious issues it really shows how useless their platform is.
I personally think that comedians can be a powerful voice that can reach very far, when they've got knowledge and a backbone.

This clown has neither.

Who does the administration think this is winning over ? At this point it seem every leak or news is designed to piss off voters.
Matthew Yglesias.

The thing is Jon Stewart has shown before that he can approach important topics with the degree of seriousness and emotional depth that they require. That's part of the reason he's so popular in the first place. Take his work to get healthcare coverage for 9/11 first responders, when congress was stalling on providing the funding. When it's something he cares deeply about, he can be incredibly effective. So the conclusion one could be lead to is that he simply doesn't care deeply about this. Or he has just lost a step.

I personally think the first two segments since his comeback were quite good, but they dealt with topics that are more in his wheelhouse - the absurdity of the Biden/Trump choice and the Tucker Carlson interview. You just can't apply the same comedic approach to a genocide and expect it to work. But again, maybe it's because Stewart thinks of this as a conflict and not a genocide (I'm not going to check if he used that word, but I don't think he did).

I don't think this is truem
I haven’t made my mind up personally, but he did say, before his protest suicide, that he doesn’t want to be complicit in it which could suggest something we’re not privy too. There’s also been a few disparate reports of Gazans fleeing having seen US forces. Who knows in any case.

This seems wildly speculative since the source is a "buddy" interviewed by the N.Y. Post. It could be true, but if it was, why wouldn't Aaron Bushnell not either leak evidence to news outlets, or at the very least mention more explicitly in the intro to his video?

The New Antisemitism

Another attempt to whitewash zionist crimes in a major paper, will any Palestinian be invited for a rebuttal?

This is a good one even if it doesn't have the same reach.

Four children die of malnutrition: Gaza Health Ministry

The ministry says the four children died of extreme dehydration of malnutrition at the Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, while seven others remain in critical condition.

Yep.

“Aaron has not been doing his military job for like four months so there's no way he has had access to any intelligence. Also I don't think there being American troops on the ground in Gaza would be the thing to push him to do this. He had a strong enough analysis to recognize the US role regardless of whether or not there were literal Americans soldiers on the ground.”

Yes, its basically red meat among pro-Hamas accounts, but almost certainly not likely grounded in any reality, particularly among those who understand how the military works. Klippenstein's piece was pretty balanced though I thought.

This number will probably increase exponentially now

A huge massacre happened, and the scenes are harrowing which is why I won't post any tweets.

They fired on thousands waiting for aid, at least 77 Palestinians were killed and 250 wounded.

The number of casualties is likely much higher than this.

Aid trucks turned to ambulances carrying the dead and injured.

Aaron Bushnell, your name will truly live on!! He left all his possessions to a Palestinian children fund. His death is breathing life into humanity.

It already reached over 100 murdered and 700 injured. These are the official numbers, people on the ground say the number of victims is over 1000.

Do you want to hear what the first excuse from the zionist scum for this massacre is?

"They came close to us while receiving aid, so we shot at them".

Watching the images of men and children dying in the sea or the offshore while trying to get to the aid and food is not only heartbreaking, but also a disgrace on every single human being in this world that lectures us on human values but turn their eyes on these people. It's a disgrace and a setback on humanity. The western world are in no fecking position to lecture the Eastern world on morality.

I know I sound emotional and not at all sensible, but how can I not be emotional seeing this, it made my blood boil.

Victims of Gaza City attack say they were ambushed

The more we talk to people about what happened during the attack near Gaza City this morning, the more it becomes clear they feel it was a trap, an ambush.
As soon as people approached incoming trucks carrying food aid, they were shot at. There were attack drones in the sky. There was also fire from naval forces and armoured vehicles in the vicinity.
All at once, these military forces fired at a group of people who were hungry, traumatised and displaced. People who were just trying to get their hands on whatever they could to feed their families and stay alive.
The number of dead from the attack has now risen to 104 and there are still, unfortunately, injured people left on the road. Paramedics, civil defence crew and volunteers are trying to help get these people to hospitals, but are finding it very difficult to get to the area. We are expecting the number of casualties to increase even more in the coming hours.
This is what is left for people in northern Gaza – face starvation or risk one’s life trying to get aid.

Probably just the injured and the released hostages?

It's a funny line but not much of a point:

Israeli Police Ask Victims and Witnesses to Testify About Hamas Sexual Violence - January 4th, 2024.
Israel's police investigators are having difficulties finding living victims of or witnesses to sexual assault committed by Hamas on October 7, due to the fact that many of the victims were killed that day, taken hostage or are in a state of psychological distress and unable to testify.

"We have circumstantial indications that there are victims who are still alive who haven't contacted us yet," said Superintendent Adi Edri, normally an investigator in the unit that handles online sex crimes against minors, who is currently in charge of investigating sexual assault committed during the massacre. "That's why we have turned to the media. We didn't do this lightly."

Which pro-Hamas accounts are these?

If you still don't believe in The Devil or anti Christ I don't know what will convince you.

Everytime I see this thread bumped I'm reminded of a quote I heard of the Charlie Rose show 20 years ago: "The Israelis will always win, and the Palestinians will always be there to make sure they don't enjoy it"

Maybe the solution is to let them fight it out once and for all and the rest of the world take any refugees that want to leave. This nearly century old conflict needs to stop.
That's precisely what the world is doing though. Except this isn't some balanced, symmetrical war between two armies. Its a regional miltiary superpower backed by a global superpower waging a campaign of destruction on a largely civilian population, claiming they're targeting an existential threat, with said threat being a bunch of militiamen with rudimentary homemade weapons. By letting it play out you're essentially advocating for the the Israeli/US end game, which is the full ethnic cleansing of the native Palestinian population, hoping neighbouring countries take in the fleeing Palestinians as refugees.

There is a simple way to end this conflict - end the occupation of Palestinian territories, give the Palestinians their nation, and insist Israel withdraw from their colonial settlements and declare their borders. Until the US decides it doesn't want to sponsor a genocide and actually twist Israel's arm in behaving like a civilised nation, then we're only going to see this suffering prolonged, or the Palestinians cleansed from the land.
