Israel - Palestine Discussion | Post Respectfully | Discuss more, tweet less

Coming from Israel, nothing is to be trusted. Literally nothing.
So yesterday the ICJ rules against Israel, and today they accuse UN aid workers of participating in the attack to try to deflect attention. Whichever side of this you believe yourself to be on you have to admit even a child wouldn't be so brazen with their bullshit.

You don't have to go too far, check back on this very topic how some people find it way more appropriate to comment about allegations (so far, they are nothing more than allegations) about UNRWA and how it tarnishes its reputatiom, than what happened in the ICJ ruling. If UNRWA's reputation is tarnished, than what about Israel and its reputation?

Let alone the fact that they have lied about (almost) everything.

France current response to the UNRWA story

" Nous appelons l’UNRWA à prendre des mesures pour s’assurer qu’aucun discours de haine ne puisse plus prospérer en son sein sans sanction ferme. "
" We call for UNRWA to take actions to guarantee that no hate speech occurs within its organization and that strong sanction are taken."

Now it sounds reasonable until you remember that one side is allowed to make all sorts of hateful speeches and kill innocent people with total impunity.

So let me get this right. Suspend the UNRWA funding because of 7 workers from 15000 was connected to Hamas undergoing investigations.

But keep funding Israel while it's literally on trail of genocide.

This world is broken, and the cause is the western world that has been literally responsible for the vast majority of human suffering, secondary to their wars for the past 150 years.

Actions have to have consequences.

Will be the line used.

Italy has followed the US, Australia and Canada in suspending financing of the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA), reports Reuters.

Antonio Tajani, Italy’s foreign minister said on Saturday, via a post on X: “The Italian government has suspended financing of the UNRWA after the atrocious attack on Israel on 7 October.”

Suspect it will be temporary until UNRWA have a chance do conduct an investigation to see how deep the Hamas infiltration is. If there were 12 who were involved with and/or participated in the 10.7 attack, then then Hamas' infiltration into UNRWA (which would hardly be a surprise given they were the defacto government in Gaza) is probably significantly more than just the 12 fired employees.

We still don't know if there is actual involvement. So far, we only have Israeli claims of involvement.

Philip Gate from Workington holds the title of the "worlds biggest liar" since 2019.

I would believe him before I believe anything coming from the mouth of Mark Regev and co.

Funny though that politicians are not eligible to participate in the competition that takes place at Cumbria England because they considered pros. Now multiply that by few folds for Israeli politicians and political system.

“The claims” forced the head of UNWRA to terminate the contracts of suspects. Is he also an Israeli puppet? You have to come up with something better.

No, he isn't. They are still claims though as far as I have seen.

Algeria asked for an emergency security council next week to get a resolution to obligate Israel to follow the ICJ readings.

You're wrong. The very literal name of the case that Ukraine has brought up was: "The case concerning Allegations of Genocide under the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (Ukraine v. Russian Federation)".

Sorry I should have been clearer the charge against Russia wasn't genocide so the rulings aren't comparable. It was Russia that had justified their 'special military operation by accusing Ukraine of genocide. The ICJ rejected it and thus said military operations had to stop.

In general it's not a useful point of comparison to the Israeli ruling.

In its Application, Ukraine also accuses the Russian Federation of carrying out the actus reus of genocide by intentionally killing and inflicting serious injury on Ukrainian nationals, accompanied by what Ukraine considers rhetoric suggestive of genocidal intent.

Think the US will veto this considering the court ruling? They'll lose tons of credibility if they do.

They'll 100% veto it, if it ever makes it to the UNSC. I would bet my house on it.

Look at how fast the other western turn-coats suspended their funding to the UNRWA. I've never seen in my life such a blatant show of double standard. All masks have been taken off and the West's international credibility will never recover from this.

Appalling.

I was listening yesterday to an Iraqi political analyst, he said the current conflict have driven the west from the east/south further apart that we haven't seen in 2 decades. He mentioned also that the Iraqi PM had a vote from the parliament to expel the international forces and bases from Iraqi soil 3 years ago, but he left the act in his drawer and ignored it until last week, when he suddenly came in an interview and said now is the time to discuss with our friends the withdrawal of their forces and closing their military bases.

I mean surely they're expecting some diminishing returns with that explanation for anything and everything? Not to mentions it cheapens the very real anti-semitism thats rampant in Europe and North America.

We are rapidly approaching the point where the phrase will lose any and all meaning.

It's not just the double standard that gets me.

The ICJ basically gave western governments an off-ramp. 'Hey these genocide accusations are bad, it's time to start applying more pressure to Israel and ending this shit.'

Instead they simply doubled down on the genocide.

Punishing millions of Palestinians with starvation on the act of allegedly (based on Israeli claims) 7 workers from 13000 workers.

I am disgusted.

Where Is Hamas Getting Its Weapons? Increasingly, From Israel.

Intelligence gathered during months of fighting revealed that, just as the Israeli authorities misjudged Hamas’s intentions before Oct. 7, they also underestimated its ability to obtain arms.

What is clear now is that the very weapons that Israeli forces have used to enforce a blockade of Gaza over the past 17 years are now being used against them. Israeli and American military explosives have enabled Hamas to shower Israel with rockets and, for the first time, penetrate Israeli towns from Gaza.

“Unexploded ordnance is a main source of explosives for Hamas,” said Michael Cardash, the former deputy head of the Israeli National Police Bomb Disposal Division and an Israeli police consultant. “They are cutting open bombs from Israel, artillery bombs from Israel, and a lot of them are being used, of course, and repurposed for their explosives and rockets.”
