I dont see much of him and I dont know how well/badly he has played throughout the season.

I hear he has had a bad year and I know that before that in Parma he didnt play all to well either in his final year.

Was France '98 the best period he has ever had? Do you guys who know better TRULY think he will be able to regain that kind of form?

I'm just not so sure on his age and the price (compared to reports on his performances) so I'd like to see what you guys think.

He's 30, but not too old for a defender.

He was already better during the World Cup than during the Euro 2000. May be because he was more and more angry to be forced to play on the right. He prefers to play as a CB. So if he comes, I think he will play as a CB.

Hes generally consistant with his form.... even when it may seem to dip - hes still better than most.

The big dillema is do you use him as a centre back or right back!

With regard to his age - he should be fit for another 4 years - and Im sure thats what SAF is only concerned about at the moment.

The experience he could pass on to O'shea Brown etc would be immense.

If we're gonna sign him, for what he costs he's definately going to play at centerhalf because right back is the least of our worries at the back.

plus .... the reason he is leaving JUVE is that he is fed up playing at RB - i don't think he would find it too funny if he came to OT and was still playing at RB.
he says he doesn't mind playing RB for france but all year at club level is very frustrating ... personally he should be playing CB for france as le bouf is too old/shit/much of a twat.

Yeh we need him for CB, but his versatility would be a great bonus, I expect O'Shea and Brown to feature next season.

Then again what I'd give for a settled CB pair. If Blanc stays I can see Blanc getting rested pointing to more rotation...

19 million for a 30 year old.....ouch!!!But I guess if he gives us 3 to 4 good seasons while Wes and O'Shea have a chance to mature, it will be worth it.

I must say all the other clubs really milk Utd because they are so successful financially. If this was Poool or Arsenal it probably would have been 10 to 12 million. <img src="graemlins/annoyed.gif" border="0" alt="[Annoyed]" />

He physically looks very good, so it is very probable that he still has 3 or 4 seasons left in the top level. I've watched how he played as CB in Parma and he was very impressive in that position. He has everything -- excellent tackling, good heading, good speed, very comfortable with the ball. We can see whether he is still as good as ever in the World Cup.

the ironic thing about thuram is that while he prefers to play centre-back, there's absolutely no doubt that he is better at right-back. he gets caught out positionally at CB and doesn't have his pace of old to recover - he and cannavarro palyed together at parma and never really clicked as a partnership. . .

He was arguably the best CB in serieA for a number of seasons with Parma, and also had some impressive displays with Juve at CB this season
