most of the big clubs in europe haven't spent a penny this summer, while utd splash out £30mil on rio.

inter stars like ronaldo and vieri have agreed to take pay cuts and real are looking to offload to reduce their wage bills while utd's wage bill is going up and up.

is manchester united plc as sound a foundation as it seems? the shares are doing crap! or are we going to find utd having to cut costs in a year or two?

United are finished as a European powerhouse. Sad really considering they only have the the 1 league title in the last couple of years. You lot must miss the days when you were a winner.

he´s a scouser ... must be

Well if I were you lot, I'd be worried. Ferguson doesn't exactly have his finger on the pulse of European football like some other managers and the spending of such magnitude as he has done the past 2 seaseons will catch up to him. Ditto for Houllier. The sheer amount he spent on Barthez, RVN, Juan Veron and now Rio is testament to his foolhardiness and lack of fiscal sense. I would suggest it is the last nail in the coffin of United's now imminent sad demise as a football power. Real are on the way down as well, and United won't be long to follow.

Yep, at this rate, United will be hardpressed to beat a team of blind schoolboys beforelong.

There's only one Davo.
Leave the winding up to him, atleast he succeeds at it sometimes...

Is this financial crisis gonna hit utd? Sure it could do, if we don't continue to manage our finances carefully. 30m for Rio seems very steep, but ok I don't know the financial details and Kenyon does. But I'm glad the transfer forum isn't in charge of our treasury. 20m for Duff plus 15m for Eidur? They may be worth it (doubt it) but we for one can't afford it.
